Tract McGrady

Right, but when your pecking order is already:

Kirilenko
CJ/Raja
Hayward
McGrady

..why even bother to give McGrady minutes at all? He hurts a team much more than he helps at this point. I'd rather fill a roster spot with a D-League scrub.

Because his upside at that value is huge, AK is always hurt and is expiring anyway and Hayward is a rookie. Most of all, it's because at that value and given his resume, if it becomes evident at any point that he's returned to health, he'd be a hell of an asset. We need to get as many assets as we can.

Where are you getting the impression that he could ever exceed his value? Even while in Houston, his team did better when he wasn't on the floor. He shoots around 40% from the field.. Price is an equivalent shooter. He's a horrible defender and from workouts he's done recently, teams have been constantly complaining about his mobility. What would he possibly offer you other than a player that is better off never stepping on the floor?

At 2M per year, he's not hurting our books. We need a few more spots to be filled anyway so why not? Do we really think Jeffers is going to exceed his value at about 1M per? No chance in hell...but McGrady? Quite possible. Your points are noted but I disagree.

Chicago's decision to not sign McGrady is a clear sign they have their sights set on making at least the second round of the playoffs.

Mcgrady is not going to just sit on the bench and be content forever. So if you sign him he is going to bitch and moan until he plays. That is a problem for a locker room. He has very little to nothing to offer the Jazz on the floor, is not a veteran leader, and has not shown that he can be a guy that only plays when needed.

My opinion would be HELL NO to McGrady at any cost. Too much risk and very little upside. At least with a D-League scrub there is a chance they turn out to be like Mathews and if they start bitching about minutes they are likely on a non-guaranteed contract and you just release them.

T-Mac is done. Given his injury issues, I doubt he ever makes it through a season, even as a back up. I don't see him fitting in at all. Some vet like Finley who is a great shooters and content to play spot minutes based upon the situation would be great. That is not TMAC

I won't argue with this. Fair point.

I think I read he was looking to be a starter (can't remember whether it was on ESPN or Sportsline). If so, he's not going to be content to play as a limited minute reserve. At this point, our roster is full unless we can find a solid center. AK, Raja, CJ and Hayward is enough at the wings, with Jeffers or some other D-Leaguer as the 13th man. I don't want anyone getting 15-20 mins at the expense of Hayward, or cutting into AK's minutes and making him pout.
