Trade Big Al?

I know I've mentioned this several times, but I would give my left nugget to get Curry. Obviously I'd like to know more about his glass ankle, but if there were any way to get him (while keeping at least 3 of our young guys - Burks or Hayward I could give up because as you mentioned we could address that void in this draft), then I think we could have a real good young team (young and good at every position) that could grow together.

Curry
Burks
2012 draftee (Barnes, MKG, Miller, etc)
Favors
Kanter

That looks like a team that could contend in 2014.

Champagne glass ankle? No thanks.

Al Jefferson for Kevin Martin straight up.

We trade a one-dimensional C for a one-dimensional SG. Rockets get a big man who can generate offense. Jazz get a SG who can actually spread the floor for when the rest of the league inevitably figures out The Jazz suck against the zone and we start seeing it every frickin' night.

And, Kevin McHale gets to prove once again that he really, really, really likes Al Jefferson and he was right to trade Kevin Garnett for him 4 years ago.

Yeah OK.. but if it means taking time away from Burks and potentially Hayward (If Howard starts at SF) then it's a no for me..

I still think we should get a semi-decent PG for him.. whoever that is.

Well that's the second part of my plan.

Bell and Miles to Detroit for a second round pick and then use the trade exception to pick up Kirk Hinrich.

Pistons fill cap space for much needed depth at the 2 with Rip gone and The Hawks get cap relief for their huge payroll in getting rid of Hinrich who they have no use for with Teague and Pargo at the point.

I can see this going down if Favors or Kanter really step up their game. I don't know a ton about Martin, but I know he is known as a good shooter. He is shooting like crap this year though. He and Hayward could hold and comfort each other through their shooting slumps.

I would describe Martin is a volume shooter. Some nights he is good, some nights he is off. From the foul line he is golden. The thing that concerns me is that he has almost always scored on bad teams where no-one else can score. Maybe he is the Al Jefferson of shooting gaurds.

I really don't know if Jefferson for Martin is the best move - I threw it out there because it is plausible, the salaries pretty much match and the trade helps both teams.

But you can certainly argue that the cliche that you don't trade big for little applies here. If The Jazz trade Jefferson and either Kanter, Millsap or Favors go down, they're screwed. To me, the fact that Jefferson is a legit big man who can score makes him more valuable than a SG that can score by virtue of the fact that there are simply fewer big men that can consistently generate offense.

In the real world, I'm fairly confident that Jefferson will be in Utah definitely through this year and up to the trade deadline next year.

trade exception Big Al, Harris , CJ , get B.Knight , Prince, and one thrash to use until the end of the year

one thing that is getting lost in this discussion is the fact that the depth we have with the bigs is our greatest strength.
How do you replace that?

The thing that you have lost in your comment is the suckage of our wings. How do you not address that?
