Trade deadline discussion

All we should be looking to do right now is trade any one or more of Ingles, Clarkson and Bogey. And whoever we bring back needs to be a nasty ************.

So, here we are. This roster is stale and needs some spice. Hopefully trader Danny has some big ideas. I would:

(1) Definitely lock down House on a real contract (he’s a budget version of exactly what we need)
(2) Do the rumored Bogey for Smart deal
(3) Try to turn the assets from the Bogey/Smart deal + Clarkson into PJ Washington or something
(4) let Ingles retire a Jazzman and not burn more assets to get off of his expiring contract;
(5) get ready for further re-tooling in the offseason.

Julius Randle obviously wants to be traded.

Julius for Bogey? He gives us the stretch 4, rebounding and toughness we need, and is probably a better defender than Bogey. He was good last year. He’s also five and a half years younger than Bogey.

Now, he does have four more years left after this year, the last being at 29 million. But I feel like he brings a lot of what we need. Idk. I don’t know what options are really out there for the mediocrity we have.
I really like Julius Randle, but he is a ball handler. He's an offensive #2 type guy. I don't know how ball movement would go with Don and Mike. I have always thought that Don and Randle could be a great combo surrounded by Rudy and 3&D guys.

The following lineup would be nasty but unlikely to put together:

Don
Smart
Fournier
Randle
Rudy

Fournier sucks. But I hear you.

We’re not talking about some 44% career shooter from 3. Fournier is 38%. And basically brings nothing else to the table. He’s soft, sucks defensively, is a poor to mediocre rebounder and passer.

So, your master plan to take us to the next level is to replace RAPTOR ranked players #11 (Conley), #47 (O'Neal) and #219 (Bogey) with #33 (Smart), #163 (Fournier) and #249 (Randle)? Is your plan to just hope they improve because you want them to? Great coach? What's your thesis for this "nasty" lineup?

Right the Knicks are just going to hand us Randle for Bogey. This is a huge giant turd of a dream.
Btw this is why brought up Draymond this off-season. And virtually everyone here balked at it. Hilarious how much some of you clowns overvalue our players and don’t recognize how vital dude is to the Dubs. Whatever it’s moot. They weren’t going to trade him for our garbage.
Everyone balked because it was never going to happen, idiot!!

Not my plan. I was piggy backing off of Keefe's train of thought.

I like some of the pieces, but my goal would be simple -

Collins #1 priority

Grant #2

Smart #3

I think all of those guys help us immensely. Mainly, one of those guys with Rudy and Don provide a brighter future than our aging unit now.

Do you think DM can be a full time point guard?

If we want a title, I think Don is our primary ball handler. That has been my argument against adding Conley the whole time.

Just go look at the development of Ja Morant as he has been given full authority as the Memphis leader. Compare his numbers with Don's and they are close to identical even though Don shares so much of the ball handling duties.

Conley is a good player, but Don has to be the guy which he is not right now.

even though Don shares so much of the ball with Don.

This part made me laugh because there are some that likely think Don only shares with himself.

The ideal path for Donovan was always to be a full time point or creator with a good secondary option that was past first. I think Mike is honestly ideal for that on offense. Size is a challenge on defense between the two of them… and I do think Mike is a good defender. I don’t see Dons offensive role as a problem at all. The offense works… the defense struggles in some matchups.

We have had two postseasons with Conley. When Conley doesn't play, our offense is perfectly fine, but we really lack help defending the perimeter. When Conley does play, our offense isn't that much different, but we really lack help defending the perimeter.

Conley is a solid defender and better than Don, but he's still not going to shut down another team's primary or even secondary scorer.
