Trade deadline discussion

I really hope we don't trade Joe. He won't play more this year, but he's still a locker room presence.
He likely wouldn't leave but would be limited on how much he could be around. They should find a work around.... give him a ball boy gig.

They got rid of Neto. Reacquire him. Give Rudy a buddy.
I wouldn't mind turning JC into Fournier if we got Grimes or some other good draft capital back. His contract is bad, but as a player I like him as a 3rd guard.

I agree. Fournier would be a good pickup if we could get him for cheap. He's like a wing version of Bojan. I hate his contract, but if we are going for it all, go for it. If we traded expirings for him, NY would send us value back.

Indiana can get to about 30M in space by offloading Craig and Holiday. Maybe more if they move Sabonis.

They are a small market team obvi, but there are some intriguing free agents they could get in on... if they tried.

I would ask what their plans are for Brogdon. He's big enough to play 1 - 3 and could be versatile on the perimeter, like say, Desmond Bane. He's been injured a lot this year though.

I've been trying to figure out how to make this happen, it would be tricky.

1. If the new team lets his contract expire, the Jazz can't re-sign him until free agency next year. If he's bought out or waived, the Jazz can't resign him
until 1 calendar year after he's traded:
2. The NBA doesn't allow player-coaches anymore. I'm doubting they can hire an active player in any other capacity.

However, there's nothing preventing them from having Joe come in for free and just hang out. Not sure he'd want to, although I'm not sure if there's
anything preventing them from having the trainers and med staff help him do rehab on his knee.

So far, the only way I can think of is to have him join the broadcast team, since the Jazz don't own AT&T sportsnet. I really like this option, because
that means we get to him hear talk, and maybe he makes it a post career gig and stays in the states (dear god please let this happen.)

What about....

Charlotte gets Clarkson
Indiana gets Ish Smith and a 2nd from Utah
Utah gets PJ Washington and Holiday

Charlotte seems to want to win now, and Clarkson could help them off the bench.

Indiana gets an expiring and a 2nd for Holiday.

We get two guys to defend the perimeter and we actually save a couple million this year in salaries on the deal.

It’s wild to me that the league did nothing about Dragic working out at Heat facilities and attending games. We’re not the Heat or Riley, so this would be like their points of emphases when they fine people and they wait for low level guys to make an example with.

Can't be moved until the offseason because he signed an extension.

Have you completely missed the fact that players like playing with players they get along with?

We got Paschall because we needed a guy like Paschall and the price was cheap. It's not some overarching trend. We've made one move.
Lol. You are so ridiculous. This isn't high school. These guys are getting millions of dollars to play. Thats the motivation. Not being part of the cool kids. Giving a player too much leverage over a franchise never works out.

I don't think they sell low on Washington... have one more year to do that.

They guys to watch in Charlotte to me are Oubre and Martin. They like both guys but likely can't bring everyone back if they keep Bridges.

I thought Washington was a restricted free agent this summer?

After reading Tony Jones' latest article I'm not at all optimistic that we'll do anything big, and maybe won't even do anything at all. Seems like we're either going to trade for Josh Richardson or just keep House for the rest of the season and call him our big addition. Sounds like they're hesitant to trade a first-round pick and aren't willing to mortgage the future to get help right now...pretty much the opposite of what we've been hearing.

My super under-rated deal that I think we could actually do....

Clips send us Batum and Ibaka.
We send Jingles to OKC.
OKC sends whatever minimum buy back to LAC.

Utah and the Clips send a second each to OKC for being the intermediary here. Clips save a bunch of money. We also amend the pick protections for OKC if necessary.

The Thunder own the LAC pick so they want them to be worse... this helps them be worse... so they are a little more motivated than normal.

We get a wing and a stretch 5 that protects the paint. Ibaka is back and healthy... he could really help us avoid playoff whiteside. Batum is as good a Jingles replacement as you will find. Rudy gets a friend.

The vibe I got was "we might not be as all in as people think". I'm guessing we have a standing offer for Richardson that is likely okayish if Celtics strike out elsewhere.

It seems like Ainge will do the DL trick "our biggest addition is House... a 3 and D wing". Like how we added Exum and Burks multiple times.... Bruh... they were already here.

I wonder if they could just give him some random title like special assistant coach or something in order for him to be able to stick around and be in the locker room.

Locke isn't great at this part of the NBA. He says things that are just wrong... Also if we think it will only cost a second to dump Ingles into OKC's space I think we will be shocked. If we empty the cupboards of all of our seconds and amend the pick protections for OKC I am not sure that beats other offers they'd have. I can't wait for all the local media to sell us about how great that deal is.

Have him work for Vivant as a brand ambassador... do something shady... make the NBA call you on it and make them feel like assholes for doing it.

Look they got a super valuable trade exception they can totally use next year... they definitely will use it for sure... lolz.... they will just buy second rounders... lolz we are a title contender.... lolz we can't even use rookies or young guys... lolz we are all in.
