Trade deadline discussion

This rumor that the Jazz aren't willing to part with a FRP is bogus. They do it all the time. If there is a player they want, they'll do it without a second thought.

yep, my thoughts exactly. Hali can 100% become a better player than Sabonis within the next 2 seasons. How often do you see a 6'6 playmaker who can give you 10+ assists on any given night while shooting 40% from beyond the arc on 5 attempts.
Sabonis is the guy who gets you from 30 wins to 45 wins maybe... Haliburton is the guy that can be a starter on a championship quality team... he might be the 3rd or 4th best player on a title team and not the guy you build around... but he's the guy that allows your superstar to be amplified.

Its just such a Kings move. Get better by 5% today and **** our future.

When the chips are down, the Jazz will offer Ingles, Clarkson, a 1st and two 2nds for Barnes. Or, they'll remove the 2nds and offer a young player.

So keep Hali for 5 more years while you perpetually win 30 games?

They probably should have done a better deal somewhere else, but Haliburton wasnt going to make a team that pays Fox 30 million per year and drafted Marvin Bagley a playoff hopeful anytime soon. That version of the Kings had no future barring a miracle move.

if you break down like that it actually makes sense from kings perspective. they need to focus on getting to 45W first before think about championship... in other words, hali is the hero that they deserve, but not the one they need right now. it's very much like when Philly traded Jrue to Pelicans. Jrue is exactly the championship type piece that the Phillies need right now, but when they traded him back in 2013 they weren't thinking about championship at all. it's all about the timing

The Kings haven't won 45 games in 15+ years. If that's what they get out this deal, they will throw a parade.

The Kings also ruined Demarcus Cousins prime, basically a super sized/super-talented version of Sabonis.

And, relevantly, fired Mike Malone. Why did they do that, again?

That Bagley over Luke blunder, though… should’ve automatically triggered a rule that makes you move the team. ****ing mind-blowing.

At least we all got to laugh at Sauce Castillo along the way. I can’t actually even remember his real name and am happy about it.

Remember... when you defend the Kings actions you are siding with the Kings.

No... maybe you move him in the offseason... but you ****ing wait. Tyrese also might be the guy that gets you to 45 wins or helps you take the next step. And I will take the next 5 years of Haliburton over the next 1.5 years of Sabonis. Sabonis is a depreciating asset because of contract length... Haliburton is an appreciating asset because of age and the growth he is showing. Time was on the Kings side here. They took 70 cents on the dollar when they could wait and get 1.50 on the dollar later if they need to do a roster re-configuration.

Whoa there... they ain't gotta move it... they have a good fanbase when the product is solid... Vivek needs to sell the team though.
