Trade Deadline

Payton/Oladipo/Gordon are not good shooters... Fournier is too small to play SF. That lineup is less good to me than with Harris.

Gordon is a PF, he doesnt have to be a great shooter. He has shown improvement in his career though from where he started.

Oladipo can shoot, his problem has been shot selection.

Payton has shown an ability to hit 3pt shots. He still doesnt take a lot, but he is also trending up.

Vucevic is a pretty good midrange shooter I believe. I dont know his stats, but he is usually on whenever he plays the Jazz it seems.

Fournier isnt too small to play SF. That is an absurd comment. Is his size ideal for a SF? No, but there are plenty of smaller players spending time at the 3.

This lineup is definitley beter on paper than Harris. Their defense gets better simply by taking Harris out of the equation.

This lineup nearly beat the Spurs https://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=400828677

Bested the Hawks twice in a row https://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=400828667 https://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=400828658

A huge part of the trade is freeing up time for the much more talented Hezonja also. He is there SF of the future. Ideally their future wings are Fournier/Hezonja with Oladipo being a 6th man.

Knicks looking for rotational guys on expiring deals. What about Booker for Jose Calderon? Maybe Utah adds in one of their many 2nd rounders. Calderon is a good shooter and veteran who can help secure the PG situation for the playoff push.
I might do that

When every NBA guy reporting on this comes back and verifies that there are no picks included in the deal then you know it was a bad deal. While having a down year he is still top 15 in RPM for small forwards. I'd love him as a third big even though he's highly paid. They could have done a salary dump in the offseason when every team has cap space if they found a player interested in going there. Clearing the space without knowing what you can bring in is iffy when there are more dollars than players available this offseason.

You know that no one wanted Harris that badly because he is overpaid. Orlando was smart to get out of it. Tweeners who can't shoot or defend aren't good for your team.

Memphis packing it in?

May be they've given up on making the playoffs? But then again Courtney Lee has been in and out of the starting line up with Barnes starting at SG...

CHA on the other hand just lost MKG and wants to make the playoffs this year.. they have really struggled with injuries this year.

Out of curiosity, who do you think will start at PG? Peyton or Jennings?

Maybe Oladipo, but getting Jennings has no impact on anything. He is an expiring contract.

Their depth chart is pretty solid now that Harris is gone:

Payton/Jennings
Oladipo/
Fournier/Hezonja
Gordon/Illyasova
Vucevic/Frye
Ya, pretty good looking depth chart

Nothing huge but still interesting...

Sweet they beat the Hawks twice... they killed it in January and December and Harris was playing 30+ minutes per game.

Fournier is okay height wise but too slight to be a full time SF. Oladipo and Payton can't shoot so get out of here with that BS... that's why they don't play them together. Payton has shot 58 3s this year and shoots 61% from the free throw line. He doesn't shoot them because he sucks at it. Victor might be an average shooter.

If they want to clear playing time for their young guys that is fine, but giving up a guy who has value and not getting much in return is stupid. They still have ill fitting parts... Jennings is ball dominant type and Illyasova won't fit well with Frye.

This is a rushed deal.

Memphis has obliterated their 3 point shoot. No need to guard them beyond 15 feet lol.

Yeah they should have been able to get more for Harris. $16m is a lot of money but with the cap rising and the versatility that he brings at the PF position, I think Magic could have gotten more for him.

Magic GM is that young man who used to be in OKC isn't he? Didn't he also give away Dwight for virtually nothing too? I think that was the deal that DL said the whole league shook its head for how bad/lopsided it was... LOL

Interesting. Maybe they will finally start developing Jordan Adams.

He's been injured all year I believe... Maybe he's close to coming back.

Their wing rotation is Tony Allen, Matt Barnes, PJ Hairston, and Vince Carter? I'm pretty sure they just packed it in, but who knows maybe they can make Hairston good.

I thought with the need for 3 and D wings Lee might get more than this... not sure what kind of second rounders they got... if from CHA or Miami or picks those teams had from worse teams.

Detroit is good for making trades. I wish we can have master GM like SVG instead we get Kylo ren. Tobias Harris for nothing they care for sounds pretty good if you root Pistons and get Reggie jackson and one of morris for nothing. Jazz never can be smart to make such trade

2-1 when Harris doesnt play. All against playoff teams.

They are trying to trade Frye FYI and people need to stop talking about Jennings. He is simply an expiring contract.

I can nearly guarantee they will be better without Harris.
