Jazz have been doing their due diligence on Lawson for a while, both from a scouting and a legal perspective.

Jazz feel Lawson's issues in Houston are about that team's system and chemistry, but see no physical slipping in Lawson's play on court.

Wow.. Amazing if true... the Jazz are serious.

Andy - is this for real?

SLTrib's Twitter says Lawson's contract is a team option next year.

Lawson has been TERRIBLE this year!!! Plus he is a noted MALCONTENT! And that's even if his ALCHY issues are over!!!! And we're HELPING Houston!!!

Guys I think this really could happen.

- HOU are desperate to let him go

- Jazz have done due diligence on him and are OK with his issues

It's the PERFECT STORM.

Best news about all of this.

Thoughts on how this impacts the Jazz this season?

tbh, i don't think it would have a major impact. He seemed checked out in Houston. If this changes, and he refocuses on the game, Lawson is one hell of a player.

If we can get a pick on top of Lawson, this is a no-brainer. Otherwise, then we might have given Burke away for nothing. That's the risk.

It's a swing for the fences... Why not? Dood will be motivated to make money. If it doesn't work he leaves... I ask for a pick swap or something though.

At least it's not a salary dump for 2nd rounders.

It's not even a swing for the fences. This is a great buy low opportunity for the Jazz.

I think you're over-valuing Burke... without his off court issues, Lawson is still better than Burke.

So far this year he's been worse. Was he better in Denver? Yes. But your getting him with off court issues, they are desperate to make a move the Jazz are not. And Burke this year is the better player. Not only that but the Jazz probably have to add players to the trade to make it work. All that = no pick no interest from the Jazz.

Sounds like this trade is going to happen. So in the best case scenario, the Jazz would rent Lawson for a year and a half season? Considering he would be an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2016/2017 season. I'm not sure it is worth, he has a big salary.

If Jazz do decide to gamble on Ty Lawson ... remember it's a dice roll mitigated by the fact Lawson's deal is fully unguaranteed next season

... and this is EXACTLY the kind of deal DL would make. A deal that has 'flexibility' built in.
