Trade Deron, draft Jimmer

Jimmer! A great college player and soon to be a decent backup point guard in the nba. But let's destroy our team and get him, because he is from BYU!!!!

Sweet!

Or we can just wait to be bent over by Deron in Lebron and Melo like ways.

You guys are crazy to NOT want to explore options for our team with Deron. I would pull the trigger on the (right) trade. Why wait for him to demand a trade or leave the franchise (and then we have nothing to show. Just like Cleveland.)?

Deron is far from untouchable in my book.

So we can have two of the best scorers from the history of Utah collegiate???
Price and Fredette duking it out for the starting spot and the future of the Utah Jazz !!!!!!!!!!!

I peed my pants just pondering about this idea already!!!

Pretty sure the comment you quoted had not much to do with trading Deron or not, rather with the notion that Jimmer for some reason is the Great White Hope. And he is right. Trading Deron to get Jimmer would be plain stupid. I think we need to think seriously about the possibility of trading Deron. We need to get assets out of him, not just a higher draft pick in a crappy draft.

We should trade Jeffersuck way before we ever trade Dwill. I don't see us ever trading away Dwill.

We have to consider trading Deron. I might support a trade for Curry and some other pieces. But we could get a lot more than Jimmer if it comes to that.

This thread is titled, "Trade Deron, Draft Jimmer."

Exactly.

It doesn't say trade Deron to get Jimmer.

It just merely says trade Deron and get Jimmer.

I think Jimmer is going to be a pretty decent player in the NBA. As of right now I'm not sure where he'd go in the draft. If we can get a good 2 and 3 for Deron and end up with Jimmer in this years draft then I think most of us could consider that a pretty successful transaction(s).

If what the author of the thread is saying trade Deron to get Jimmer... Like a Deron for Jimmer trade straight up, then I'm sure he's only joking.

Right now I think deals with Deron should be looked at. We don't want to be in the position Cleveland was in... Or the present situation in Denver. And it's clear to me that Deron cannot win the championship with Boozer, Jefferson, Millsap, and Okur. If our goal is to indeed win a championship then unless we plan on upgrading our talent then we should consider trading Deron and moving ahead towards the future.

I suggested a couple weeks back thatnthe jazz should look at the offer nj made for carmello. I would even look at a tradebwith ny for draft picks and Wilson Chandler and raymond Felton.

The Nets have at least something the Jazz could use in Lopez or Favors (huge upside). The Knicks have very mediocre talent that I have no interest in.

This thread was a beauty.

Brilliant!
Actually, it was very prescient in terms of the DWill trade. When I made this thread, there were a bunch of other threads being posted at the same time that had no other real meat to them except for "discuss."

Of course I wasn't serious about Jimmer. I'm a BYU alum; I enjoyed seeing him have such a great COLLEGE career, but I've always been firmly in the camp that his game won't translate to a lot of success in the NBA. Jimmer is a rich man's Ronnie Price. He's an undersized SG being forced to convert to a PG because of his size. What's worse is that at least Ronnie P. could be a pesky defender. Jimmer's defense is below average. I was relieved Sacramento took him before Utah picked 12th. Burks is a much better prospect.

And I was absolutely shocked when my brother called me with the news Deron had been traded. I thought he was joking. And re-reading the thread, kudos to Jazz4ever for bringing up Favors as a potential trading chip.

I laughed, I cried.

The Deron/Jimmer relationship would have been epic.
It would have been another Montana/Young -- Favre/Rodgers -- Manning/Painter type relationship.

Oh, what could have been.

I like Jimmer

One day they should say to him, go out there and try to do what you did in college. And just let him jack it up 30 times and see what happens. It's not like they have anything to lose. They have more to gain. Jimmer might find his confidence again. It's not like anyone is going to pick him up at 30 ft out. Im not saying he would be as good as he was in college. But surely he has to be better than he has shown. The kings just screwed up his confidence.

I'll take either end of the extreme please. If it works, championship. If it doesn't, top draft pick. (trade Jefferson for nothing a month ago, bench everyone over 25 and go to 7 man rotation, start Hayward at point, injure Harris in practice, and all that stuff)
