Trade Favors Before Long

I have said it in the past and I will say it again Favors is more of a center in todays NBA then a PF. He can play PF against teams that have more of a stretch center. I wouldnt complain about a trade that broght back Jordan Clarkson (The lakers will need to trade him to free up cap space this summer)

Favors has never been good when playing center. He can play it but not well.

What teams do you think will pursue him that have cap space and want him to play his position of pf? What type of contact do you see him getting?

If Plumlee got 3/41... I don't see a scenario where Favors gets less if he's healthy.

They do play a different position but they are both bigs. I think that would be a great contract for the Jazz if Favors was paid 13 per if healthy.

What other teams besides the Jazz need a PF and are 13 million below the cap space?

Lakers? I doubt it. Indiana? Maybe but they have Young and Turner signed still next year. Chicago? Rebuilding and has a few PFs right now. Kings? Who knows what they will do but they have Zach Randolph signed through next season and the young Skal as their future prospect. Dallas? Maybe a landing spot if they want to move Barnes back to SF. Denver Nuggets? I mean they do need more PFs right? Brooklyn? Maybe but they will have their pick that season so they might actually tank. I doubt Favors wants to return here. 76ers? I think they will have other FA targets and PF is not a need. Minny? They would have to do a lot to get that kind of room but maybe although I think Dieng is working. Knicks? They have Kanter and Porz but maybe they drop Kanter and go after him. They will be looking for a max player though. Memphis? Maybe a decent spot for him but that is hard to clear that much room for them. Pistons? I doubt they want him but maybe.

I guess it only takes one teams but I dont see many spots for him. Dallas is one of the few spots I could see.

Most teams wont have room to go after a guy around that much money.

If Favors is healthy and plays 75+ games this year the Jazz should offer him a decent contract right away. 3 year 40-45 mil. I think he will sign it. I am still unsure he will be healthy all season though.

I still think the most probable scenario is we don't trade him and he leaves as FA in the summer.

It depends on what the Jazz get offered and whether they're likely to make the playoffs. They could trade Favors for a future pick and still keep cap space, like Minnesota trading Rubio.

Each year is so different in this cap environment. I don't think plumlee gets that if he wasn't traded and the Denver front office felt pressure to keep him.

I think Favs will end up pretty disappointed with the offers he gets.

Weren't the jazz interested in Mirotic this offseason... I see he is willing to wave his trade veto power. He won't be able to be traded for a couple months.

He shoots a lot of threes but doesn't make them very much... sounds like a jazzman to me.

Its still October, but here is a trade I am eyeing for December.

Favors, Neto and O'Neal for Kuzma and Deng

Why for the Lakers - they are hinging everything on summer 2018. Sure, they like Kuzma and all, but they need George and another to be back to being showtime. Deng is a major roadblock to adding pieces. Dropping Deng for an expiring allows them to sign George AND another big fish (LBJ, etc). Favors would help them make a playoff push this year as much as Kuzma.

Why for us - Kuzma becomes our perfect fit next to Gobert for the long term. Our Favors journey has one of two conclusions. Either he leaves for nothing or we pay a bit to keep him. The cost to keep him probably wouldn't be far from what Deng makes the next 3 years. Everybody in this forum would rather have Kuzma and Deng for $19ish over Favors for around $15ish.

I like it. Kuzma, DM and Rudy would be insane. But is Kuzma too good for the Lakers to give up?

lmfao the Lakers arent trading Kuzma in December.

Where do you people get the drugs? Please forward your dealer's #

This.

Could be a stud and they're just gonna trade him to us.

I think there is merit to the idea they might trade him eventually, but they wouldn't do it this early. It could get to the point where his value goes so far up, teams will actually give them more than just cap-space for taking on Deng to get Kuzma.

Plus, they probably want to use this season to see who they want to jettison if they do actually end up chasing the double max cap-space: Kuzma or Ingram. They won't make a rash decision this early.

Just look at the factors:

Lakers don't have a 1st rounder in 2018
Randle needs a new contract
They won't trade Lonzo
They won't trade Ingram
Lopez and Caldwell Pope are expirings
Clarkson isn't a strong enough asset

Other than Kuzma, how else do they move Deng's contract. Please elaborate. If they did it now, there would be less fan outrage. They would all understand it is about summer 2018

Pls, just think.

It all depends on if they really think Lebron is coming. I think they will have to move one of Ingram or Kuzma but I think they make someone eat clarksons deal too.

Or they will have to give up picks on picks... I think they will wait until they know for sure... like in when free agency opens, but I'd throw out some feelers their way. They won't have as many options and may have to pay extra but I'd much rather pay a little more and know I'm not going to look like an idiot using assets to clear space... that's how the kings roll.

Wait til the off-season and offer him a max.

How would we get room to offer the max?

I guess if we let everyone walk and waive everyone we might have enough. But that would mean taking the chance that the Bucks match and we would lose (by waiving them) Hood, Favors, Exum, JJ and Neto. I think we would also have to trade Burk before then. Plus the obvious of not picking up the options on Udoh, Sefolosha and Jerebko.

That would leave us with:
Gobert
Rubio
Ingles
Bradley

If Bucks match we would be screwed. Even if they dont that would gut our roster a lot to get him. I think we would have to trade for him.
