Trade for Afflalo

S&T

Afflalo at 5/$40-$50 Million

For

CJ/Bell and GSW pick

or Okur/CJ and GSW pick

We talk all the time about needing a stud wing and we talk of Iggy, Gay, or Granger::: Why not a guy that is going to be as good as any of those who is a defensive stud, a leader and one of the only 50% shooting and 40% 3pt % guys in the league.

Yes its a lot but we don't need another pick, CJ is the price of getting our future SG. If Burks turns into a stud in the years to come great.. you can make a decision then but this balances our team and allows for PT for our 4 big men with the loss of Memo.

'Cause Denver's not that stupid.

Maybe in a normal draft, but 2012 is simply too loaded to give up a potential top 10 pick. Also, SERIOUSLY doubt that Afflalo ever reaches the level of Granger etc.

No.

Not the worst thing I've ever heard, but if the Jazz are going to throw assets for the future at something, they should be shoring up PG since the Jazz don't have their guy for down the road (no one can convince me that the guy we have now that completely relies on his speed and is 8 years older than who's supposed to be our future core is that guy). That, or a real SF. Or a real C.

I like Afflalo, but he isn't worth a lottery pick in a potentially deep draft. Also not worth 8 million a year.

This is pretty much the opposite of what Utah should be doing this year.

Giving up what should be a decent pick for the right to overpay a FA is a quick path to being perennial challengers for the 8th seed.

I like Afflalo more than most, but you should not trade away our pick at all. I can see expiring contracts and a decent rotation player for him but not a pick in this next draft.

Okay, so maybe I am a little over the moon for this guy as far as money, but the last thing we need at this point is another rookie next year. Its likely we wont make the playoffs and I actually think that the GSW will make it this year. That calculation leaves us with our own lottery pick and a pick in the 20's for Denver. If Afflalo could be had for 5/$35M this would be well worth it.

Agree.

As trades go, this has probably been one of the best proposals. I like Afflalo. But the Jazz may have two young SG's already in Hayward and Burks. Let's see if Gordon can play SG. If he can, then the Jazz need to draft (or trade for) a SF. If not, then they can look at a SG. I agree w/ Numberica, PG and SF are probably the key needs moving forward. There aren't a whole lot of "true" centers in the NBA, so I think Favors and Kanter - if he develops - will be fine. Lakers best combo is Gasol/Odom and the Spurs have Duncan play most of his minutes as a center. OKC? Perkins and Ibaka are both 6'10." As for the Eastern conference, the Heat won't have anyone of note at the 5 and the Knicks have Amare - again, not a true center.

i touted Afflalo last year but no... maybe if we were in a win-now mode ala Chicago.
