Trade for Isiah Thomas?

Just think this is a make or break year for Burke. If he doesn't show improvement on the defensive end or getting to the FT line, he is just a player in the way who doesn't have any skills that let him play a defined backup role to help us win.

It's possible but it's not like our defense was better than theirs last year and it's not like we know if it's going to be much better this year. The problem is that Gobert and Favors can't play together and that I am not sure either of them is enough to neutralize the defensive deficiencies of our guards. I recently saw some analysis that showed that you need at least one great(elite) post defender and at least one great(elite) perimeter defender if you want to hide the deficiencies of even the worst of defenders in your team. The examples given were how the Bulls hide Boozer and how the Warriors hide Lee, and both of those teams had top 5 of defenses last year. Now those are both big men and I don't know if the same will work for a guard, but I suppose you can always put your best perimeter defender on the better(offensively) of the opponent's guards thus minimizing the impact on Thomas or Burke or whoever is your defensive liability at the guard position.

Makes sense. We really lack that elite perimeter defender to matchup with the super-stars. Hoping 2015 produces that elite athlete SF we need.

Gobert and Favors actually shows some aptitude for passing (at times) , so I still hold out hope for them to be able to play with each other (solid interior passing can overcome lack of shooting from the bigs). And hopefully Kanter's range gets nasty so he can play with either of them, because I'm not holding my breath for Kanter's passing to improve that much.

I would have to see some advanced number on Thomas's defense. He also played on the Kings, who as a defensive unit, where terrible. Would his size disadvantage be negated with the likes of Gobert and Favors locking down the paint?

Slightly below average but not a complete sieve because of his elite foot speed. Elite jump shooters like Curry and Irving would probably expose him the most, since he couldn't effect their jump shot.

RAPM:
-0.7 per defensive 100
(Burke was worse at -1.9)

ESPN Real plus minus (defensive)
-1.62
(Burke was worse at -3.25)

I'm still all in with Trey Burke as our floor general. This year will be big for him. No thanks on Isaiah...

I'm all in on Burke as a clutch shooter, but the jury is out on literally EVERY OTHER aspect of his game being NBA starter quality.

Maybe the suns are gonna go super small ball.

PG - Isaiah Thomas
SG - Eric Bledsoe
SF - Goran Dragic
PF - Morris or Morris
C - Miles Plumlee

It's just so crazy it might work.

Nah, they going to need to start TJ Warren at SF.

They also either need Len to pan out or get some PF's that play like PF's. How can you have that many good PNR players but no big men who can roll to the rim out of it?

lmao

My personal contacts inside Washington Huskies tells me Ish works out more hard than any NBA player. It will be cream pie in face if Jazz trade for free agent like this but I think I want him on my Jazz. He is more underrated than Bledsoe who has to beg for contract.

I hope they do start Warren.

They have a lot of pieces on their team that make ya wonder what are they going to do with them.

Why are you still talking like that?

Why are you talking like that?

Is it a shot at the foreigners who don't speak in perfect English around here?

Or, is it a shot at the Jazzfanz community as a whole, with unintended consequences towards our wonderful foreign community?

Those are my two guesses, well I lean a lot more to the latter. I'm not on much so I probably don't know the whole story, but, I think you are mad at Jazzfanz right now, and have been for a while, but you are hopelessly addicted to it. So you lash out and talk to everyone like they are stupid.

I could be wrong. I'm just guessing.

You've just been psycho analyzed.

Would anyone be into trying to get Isiah Thomas from the Suns?

I hate his height, but he can ball and is on a good contract. I have no idea what the Suns are trying to do with their lineup by having their 3 highest paid players all play the same position now that they signed Bledsoe to a large deal.

Can anyone think of a team in the West that would want Burke that we could work out a 3-way deal with?

Did they sign Thomas before or after matching Bledsoe? If before then it reeks of a cover strategy and Thomas is expendable. I say give them Hayward and Trey for him, the big white dude brother of the other guy, and a first rounder. Horny wants Hayward right so it's a done deal match made in heaven.

How is this any different for almost ever NBA player after their rookie season. Not to mention he spent the majority of the season injured before hitting the rookie wall. If Burke isn't significantly better this year provided he's healthy then talk about trading him.

They would be unguardable on the perimeter, and if they can hold their own on the defensive boards, they will fast break people to death, and be absolutely exciting to watch.

With Exum years away from meaningful NBA minutes and contribution, maybe it is not far-fetched to think that Jazz may need another serviceable NBA-ready PG.
and there is that name factor. You cannot go wrong with an Isiah Thomas.

Tell that to the Knickerbockers.
