Jazz get:
Daniel Gibson
24 years old
6'2
4M/y average signed this year and next year, then a team option
13.2 ppg
3 ast
career 42% 3PT shooter

Cavs get:
CJ Miles
23 years old
6'6
3.7M, 3.7M (Team Option)
12.1 ppg
3 rpg
career 33% 3PT shooter

Why Jazz do this: Upgrade at 3pt shooting. Doesn't cost much more than CJ was costing. Gibson could play some 2guard and some point. Eventually replacing Price or Watson.

Why the Jazz might not want this: Give up some size. Possible depth issue at the SF position. Gibson's contract length is a year longer than CJs.

Why Cavs do this: Clear money for next year. They aren't going anywhere and need to clear as much room as possible to start over. If CJ worked out they'd have a Team Option to keep him for next year too. They have Mo Williams at point.

Why Cavs don't do this: They like Gibson better. He isn't THAT expensive and young and getting better?

Thoughts?

How about Gibson for Price and our first round pick this year.(We never use first round picks right)

Jazz play with DWill/Watson and DWill/Price combos don't they?

Bad trade idea not because of talent but because of team needs. I like Gibson a lot.

The Jazz are playing small front courts because we don't have another option.

Gibson isn't a good defender and we can't keep playing deron over 40 minutes a game and relying on him to do everything during that time. He won't hold up come playoff time.

I like Gibson but I don't like his salary or how he fits into our offense. He is a perfect player to play next to a slashing star but not in the Jazz offense. Bad fit. Put him next to Tyreke Evans or Brandon Roy or Wade or Lebron. PG for a triangle offense but he doesn't fit here

All of these trade ideas are okay, but what the Jazz truly need is a cloning facility to get us 2 more Derons at the 2 and 3.

I'm not against the Jazz acquiring Gibson, but not at the expense of CJ, who's younger and far more versatile. Gibson does one thing: Shoot from deep.

I wouldn't trade Miles this year*. He's arguably the best 3 the Jazz have, and frankly has come up big lately in numerous games.

*yes, I'm sure there could be some great trade that anyone would make with Miles, but even though Gibson is a decent player I'd still rather have CJ
