Knick/Jazz/Hornet 3 way trade Idea (Knicks also willing to deal anyone besides Amare)
https://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=29k3592

Knicks wanted a shooting big man according to an ESPN insider a few weeks ago.

Puts us over the cap more this year but its a better scenario financially next summer than trading AK for him. Millsap will still get his minutes. Millsap of course will play PF when in the game. Remember Okafor has a very long wingpan and he could easily play better D against the lakers than Okur can.

D-Will - Price - Gaines
Bell - Miles - Hayward
AK - Miles - Hayward
Jefferson - Millsap - Evans
OKafor - Millsap - Fesenko

There's no way the Knicks or any team take Memo this off-season. Way too risky with more than one year left on his deal.

basically they would be trading paul for all expirings..I would assume they would want atleast 2 starters back plus picks. The magic could offer a much better package of players imo.

why in the world would the hornets do this? gallinari as the centerpiece? seriously?

I agree and think Hornets are dumb if they trade away Chris Paul. But if you look at the list of teams that the Paul wants to go to the Knicks have more young pieces that would help the hornets rebuild than any of the others. Everyone else just has expiring contracts.

The best option I think is the Celtics trade that ESPN thought of. Rondo & Perkins for Okafor & Paul. But not sure if the Celtics would do that.

No the Magic don't have anything for a team that would be in rebuilding mode after trading Paul. They don't want Carter or Lewis. They don't want Nelson they already have Collison. They might want Redick & Gortat but Gortat doesn't help them rebuild.

And the Hornets already said if they trade Paul they want the team to take Okafor anyways. Orlando is not going to take Okafor.

Research the rumors and look at what position the team would be in after the trade.

I want nothing to do with a crappy C who makes way too much. If we're going to overpay for a defensive-oriented center, let it be a very good one. Let it be Perkins this off-season.

Redick can't be traded until December 15.

The only way Paul's $14M contract ends up in Orlando is if someone takes on the contracts for VC ($17.5M) or Lewis ($18M). Orlando's payroll, according to the ESPN Trade Machine, is currently a whopping $85M, and they would be wanting to cut that. OTOH, if Orlando did take on Paul, they would make Nelson expendable, his contract is $7.8M. They would then have to include either Pietrus ($5.3M), or Gortat ($6.3M), or Bass ($4M) + filler in the trade.

Just for fun, here's a trade that allows the Hornets to shed Paul and Okafor:

Orlando gets: Chris Paul
Hornets gets: Mo Williams, A Parker, D Orton (filler), Trade Exception ($11.5M)
Cleveland gets: Okafor, Nelson, Bass.

Works according to the Trade Machine. ORL gets +7 wins and CLE +4 wins, NO gets -14 wins and a massive cut to their payroll (in fact they end up under the cap).
