In a heartbeat.

Why? It increases our chances of drafting a BPA at a position of need. If ORL thinks Trey could be their man, they could snag Vonleh @4, letting Exum slip to us. We take Exum @ 5, and Zach Lavine @ 12. We get two players w/ incredible amounts of upside in this draft. If nurtured correctly, either one of them could blossom into franchise caliber talent. They are both very athletic, tall and long, and truly capable of playing the 1 or 2. Lavine is also a very gifted shooter, who could be brought along slowly off the bench.

Imagine an 8 man rotation of:

Exum, Lavine
Burks, Hayward
Hayward, Marvin
Favors, Kanter
Kanter, Gobert, Favors

There is so much athleticism and length. Hayward's wingspan is a little undersized for the SF, but Exum and Lavine are oversized for their positions. Marvin can be subbed in to guard the bigger SF's, w/ Hayward at the 2. Etc.

Fill the rest of the team w/ some specialists for shooting, and for D, and this team has a lot of upside.

I like that team, but I don't think the Magic really want Trey. A back court of Trey and Oladipo is pretty small.

I would only make the trade if it included swapping the #5 for the #4 pick.

Jazz get:
#4 pick
#12 pick

Orlando gets:
#5 pick
#23 pick
Trey Burke

Locke was kicking something like this around on his show. I don't think Orlando hangs up but they ask for more.

Problem is that we are way over valueing Trey Burke. He is the 5th or more likely 6th best PG in this draft. Maybe even 7th behind Jordan Clarkson depending on what you look for in a PG.

Exum
Smart
Payton
Ennis
Napier- is a better shooter and the same size as Trey
Clarkson- Trey had a better career but Clarkson is 6'4" and could be taken by some teams higher.

Last years draft was that bad. No way Orlando does that when Payton, Ennis, and Napier are on the board at 12.

If they did that, then they would be going after Smart and have no need for Burke.

It is the Bucks pick that can be had. We send them our pick, the 2016 GSW pick, Kanter, and salary filler. They send us their pick and Mayo. They use our pick to get a PG (Exum or Smart), a need for them (they move Knight to SG). They already have the Greek Freak at wing, which the 2nd pick will be. Kanter is Sanders insurance. We solve their Mayo problem, one of the worst contracts in the league. We get Parker/Wiggins and we clear the way for Tomic to come over. It is perfect.

David Locke spoke about this on his podcasts. So here would be the trade:

Orlando gets:

Trey Burke and the 23rd pick

Utah Jazz get:

12th pick

The Jazz take Marcus Smart and maybe Nik Staukus or Rodney Hood?

If the Magic want a PG, why wouldn't they just pick Exum or Smart with their own pick? They are both faster and bigger than Trey.

Sounds delicious, but hold the Mayo.

You come up with dumb trade ideas but this one would work but why would you trade a 2nd year player you had to trade up to get? That is the dumb part of your scenario. Atleast its value on both sides of the trade for once in your trade threads but you do not give up that quick on a 2nd year player who has the potential to ne a good one

Orlando wants a PG but if they trade for Trey Burke and move down a spot then they can get Noah Vonleh. It's about who they value more:

Noah Vonleh
Trey Burke
#23 which could be a player like Kyle Anderson, Adreian Payne, or possibly even Tj Warren.

Vs

#4 Dante Exum
#12 player like James Young, Nik Stauskas, or Rodney Hood

If Utah moves up it is not to draft Marcus Smart it is to get either Parker or Exum.

This might already be mentioned, but there's no way in hell Smart is lasting until the 12th pick. There's even chatter now that Orlando is seriously looking at Smart at #4, which would presumably leave Exum at #5. I don't see anyone at #12 who's an upgrade over Burke, assuming we don't get Smart or another PG in a trade.

Edit to add that there must be something to this proposal that is not clear or that I misunderstand. It makes absolutely no sense to trade Burke and the 23rd pick for the 12th pick.

Edited further to add: Jeez but people here are giving up on Burke awfully quickly.

in that scenario, smart is taken 5th, the jazz don't give up that pick, they take stauskas/hood at 12

In that case, HELL NO. I don't think there's anything at 12 that's better then Burke.

I'd like to see what a backcourt of Burke, Burks, and Smart could do.

The trade would basically be
Burke, #23(payne), #5 (smart)
For
#12 (lavine) and #4 (exum, vonleh, parker, randle, gordon or whoever)

At least thats how i look at it
