Trade Kanter for Faried?

So noone notices how slow Kanter is running the floor huh. Name me one slower player in the league. Andrew Bogut would beat him in a baseline to baseline sprint, er jog.

I agree that Kanter is a trotter on offense. He is obviously a lot faster than this, and running the floor is an undervalued skill. I think it has to do with his training and habits more than anything. It's similar to alley-oops, or his lack thereof. I would bet money that he can do alley-oops, but he doesn't look like he's done them much and thus doesn't feel comfortable doing them. I wish that he would spend some time with Malone since Malone ran the floor as well as any big man in the history of the NBA. A lot of this could come from playing in summer league, where dunks are king.

I can name a slower player on the jazz's roster. No need to widen the search to the entire league.

EDIT TO ADD: ah ****! I just got trolled by Franky

lol no. You should know me better. I don't create alt accounts to push my opinion when it's against the grain. I wear my thoughts on my shoulder.

Kanter has two plus size characteristics that are linked at the hip: strength and speed. I see his strenght as baby Shaqesque. Shaq could dunk with a player hanging from each elbow. Kanter might strong enough to do it with a guy on his left arm. His strength makes him slow and unexplosive, unfortunately.

Faried looked helpless against the much bigger Gasol last night. Jumped and flailed at the ball like a little kid while Pau just stood there batting the ball back off the glass (5 times I thnk) until it went in. Kanter at least has the size to box him out and move him off his spot.

THIS. Faried's size was completely exposed last night. Unless he fills out a frame a la Charles Barkley, I can't see the kid winning a playoff series as a starter against a team with good forecourt size.

I think Kanter has Marc Gasol like potential, which would obviously be a very good player. He can be a great rebounder with a balanced offensive game that provides a big body on defense.

Faried is the kind of guy who looks great in an offense that likes to run, but I think would look an awful like a less skilled Millsap on the Jazz.

kanter's max vertical is decent (32.5 inch), but his standing vertical is not that good which gives him some trouble. plus he is not explosive which could be expected from a guy with a strong base, thick leggs and heavy and brought muscles (strong upper body as well): jumping ability: C- or D+

while his length is good, it's average in comparison to centers with elite length (standing reach and wingspan): C+

his speed is good and his lateral quickness is decent. his cordination and balance is not that bad either: B- or C+

strength and size: he is a bull with incredible strength. plays a tough and physical game. A or A-

overall: he is an average athlete with not much explosiveness even if he shows it from time to time: ATHLETICIZM: C+[/B]

but how some people underrate him is just ridiculous...

strengths:

he is a very strong, physical and though player.
has solid size. incredible body shape. strong base and great upper body.
thick legs and strong body make it difficult for defenders to move him in the the paint.
very high motor.
very good footwork, solid touch and soft hands allow him to have solid potential on the offensive side of the floor.
already has some moves on offense: the up and under move, some spin moves, baby hook and a mid range game. but he still needs time to get better and more confident on offense.
he is a decent free throw shooter (67 percent from the line in his rookie season).
can extend his range to the three point line.
incredible rebounder. crashes the offensive glass like a beast.
will fight hard.
decent on the defensive end, especially solid one-on-one man defense.
very motivated and solid character.
a hard worker.
solid potential.

weaknesses:

lacks game experience. didn't play for the last two years.
solid length, but not elite for a big man.
speed and quickness are average as well as his cordination and body control.
his vertical is not bad, but he lacks explosiveness and doesn't get high in the air quickly. he can't make up for his lack of lift because he has no elite length.
won't be a shot blocker but will block some shots rather due to his positioning than his athleticizm.
overall, he is an average athlete and really not a bad one for a 6-11, 267 lbs big man.
not a great perimeter defender and help defender but hasn't bad lateral quickness either to become solid.
still very raw and green.
sometimes looks lost on both sides of the floor.
neither injury prone or turnouver prone, but losses the ball in some stupid positions.
needs experience. the game comes too fast to him, needs more time to adapt.
doesn't pass the ball much. tries to score and impress people. was under pressure a bit as a rookie with big expectations.

outlook:

will become a solid starter. capable of putting double doubles night in, night out. might average 11-14 ppg and 10-12 rpg per game in a couple of years. some all-star nominees might not be out of reach. might be better with an athletic center along his side. would be better at the power forward position. no doubt that he has the potential to become a top 5-10 center in this league.

player comparison:

Marc Gasol (less length but better motor)
