Trade possibilities during the Draft

I, like a lot of you hoped the Jazz would trade up and be able to draft a really good player. This quote from KOC really stuck out to me. I suspected this would be the case, and if it is true, I am glad he didn't do it.

"I could have made a trade, but I don't think you would have liked who I traded," O'Connor said. "It would have been a minus for us."

I still would like to know who the Jazz could have acquired. Maybe I wouldn't have liked trading a certain player but whether or not it was a good deal depends on who the Jazz would have gotten in return. But obviously KOC didn't think anything was worth doing.

Based on the number of trades that happened the price was probably very high.

Considering Harden couldn't get the Thunder the 2nd or 3rd pick, I think it must have been pretty damn hard to get into the lotto.

I thought it came out that OKC never offered Harden? I have no link, just a poor memory of looking at 103 different NBA rumor sites.

.....and outside of Davis, I wouldn't give up a package including Favors for any of the other pics. You're building a team very much centered around having Favors on board, so trading him for a pic would, at best, drop us exactly where we are currently at, or likely set us back at least a year.

Hmm, I didn't really look into it that hard, just saw ESPN was reporting it, at least as a legitimate rumor.

Maybe the fleecing of Brooklyn that KOC pulled off turned people away. Who knows, but I believe that he was trying to get into the lotto; but the asking price was just way to damn high. Maybe something will happen in free agency...KOC knows what he is doing. I just don't want to settle for the 8th pick year after year.

Teams were not desperate yesterday. They will start to be desperate as soon as people start going down due to injury and suddenly KOC can fleece them as well.

Yeah, you never know, could have just been a cover up so Harden wouldn't be offended.

Why the hell would they trade Harden and spend an extra couple of years to get Beal to develop to replace his efficiency? OKC was 3 games away from winning the finals and Miami won each game by like 5-8 points because one bench player went off each game which was pretty unlucky

Because they only have a 1 year window to compete with the core 4 of Ibaka-Harden-Westbrook-Durant. Getting Beal would extend their high talent level with a low contract. Beal would give them a better defender than Harden too.

I think the Jazz really liked Lillard and knew thay had to get to at least pick 5. My impression from KOC interviews and from Locke was that the asking price was Favors.

Brian T. Smith: O'Connor said he spoke with multiple teams in 20s that tried to move into lottery. No one made traction. Picks worth too much in new CBA

Looks no one really made any head way and that is why there were not alot of trades. Could this be a pattern under the new CBA? Hardly any draft picks moving around?

He would also give him a worse play maker. When you have the best scorer in the NBA, you don't need to add more scorers. Harden is the best play maker on OKC, they would be stupid to trade him when they could just amnesty Perkins and solve all their problems
