I disagree, I would start Conley, but limit his minutes/games until the trade deadline. I think the priority for the first half of the season is asset accumulation. It's kind of weird, but the starter designation is somehow really important in the league. A starter will have a higher value than a bench player. I think some of our young guards minutes (mainly Butler) might suffer, but having Conley around should be beneficial for our young players in general.

The only tradeoff I would consider is if Conley is making too much of a positive impact. If our own draft pick is at risk at risk of losing value for the sake of Conley gaining value, then you have to probably sit him more.
 
If LAL would give us the two picks, I’d do Conley for Vuc straight up. Having that extra cap space next offseason by getting off Conley’s guarantee would be worth it, and if it gets us the extra pick from the Lakers, it’s a no brainer.
 
Really not a fan of the "all in Tank". Once you get too used to losing, you tend to still be good at it. We are the Jazz, if we have the worst record in the league will still be pulling 4/5 as that would hurt the most...well not as bad as getting #1 pick, grabbing the tall french guy (can't spell his name so won't take the time to look it up and copy/paste) and then he continues his injury issues and is a waste. Getting other folk's assets (which we've been doing) and using them for trade or move up in draft will be more successful than only winning 15 games next year.

Anyway, I'll let you all get back to your dreams of sucking...enjoy

Obviously anything can happen but I wouldn't be shocked if they traded for Don in 2+ years especially if some big market teams are forecasted to have capspace. By 2025 teams like Lakers, Clips, Heat could have money available for FA's. Despite all the NY talk, for whatever reason I could see Don ultimately end up in LA or Miami at the end of his contract. Just a hunch though. Seems like alot of these players use NY for leverage and then end up somewhere else.
 
Not a trade rumor per se... but NBA is considering the draft age limit change in the next CBA... could hit in 2024. Lets execute the Bogey trade for a 2024 Suns pick... need to have a couple picks in the "double draft".

Back in the HS days you could find some steals late too... so snag some good seconds and another first if you can. I think Suns would do Crowder/Shamet 24 frp for Bogey... we can likely shift Crowder into someone's tpe. There aren't a lot of gettable 2024 picks... I might prioritize getting another 24 pick over a far out LA one. Suns, Grizz, Raps are best obvious candidates to send out a 24 first.

If the double draft gets moved to 2025 we have 3 picks already.

It's crazy so many teams have already traded their '24 pick or owe '23 picks so can't deal their '24 pick. OKC and a few other rebuilding teams own so many future draft picks.
Toronto and Phoenix are the 2 non-tanking teams that still actually own their FRP in '24.

Grizz have their own pick and GS pick in 2024. So I'd add them to the list.

The flip side is that every time you draft a HS kid, you think you’ve got a superstar in the making. Name the last HS player drafted who didn’t have a sizable spin from somewhere on that.

It adds variance and depth... you may not take a HS kid but you might have a guy get pushed down 4-5 spots because other teams took that chance. You might get Kobe or TMac later in the lotto and find something... or you might get Rashard Lewis or Josh Smith... you also may land Deshawn Stevenson or some other guy that is too immature... but more talent in the draft and essentially the best of the best from two recruiting classes landing in one draft will increase the amount of choices and talent to pick from. You still have to choose wisely.

I think there will also be an adjustment when this happens where teams have to catch up a little bit on the appropriate way to evaluate these kids vs. kids in college. Not sure if teams will be dying to draft these guys and they get over-valued or if they get passed up as teams see them as too risky. I just know in the double draft I want a couple picks regardless of if we take a HS kid.
