Aren't they in the luxury tax? They don't have to match perfectly. Can be a 25% delta... I think Huerter, Capela, and JC is close enough.

They likely will be if they did it... but they also have Gallo's deal they can waive.Aren't they in the luxury tax?
If he isn't traded at or before the draft I don't think it happens. Definitely don't think it happens in season. We should have more urgency here. I think Atlanta, Charlotte, likely move on... there may be other options that open up... but you have to realize that Rudy is super talented and awesome but has a limited market. Not sure waiting to get 15% more (if you can) is wise.Andy Larsen said on the radio that it's his understanding that there is still a pretty large distance in negotiations right now between what the Jazz are asking for and what teams are willing to give up. He said negotiations may budge as we get closer to the draft, or the Jazz may wait until later in the summer to make any moves or possibly even wait until the trade deadline. Says Ainge will wait to make a trade until he can get the best value.

Everyone talks about Morey waiting and winning because of it... did he? Burned up a year of Embiid and it doesn't look so hot. Rudy's situation is different but the situation is tenuous and if he gets hurt you aren't getting anything. If the value is close enough you should do it now and move into the season completely fresh... if it hangs over the team good luck getting the best out of everyone. If the value is completely **** then obviously wait.

I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't get moved. The vibe I got from Andy makes me think there isn't a lot of urgency on Jazz's part to move him.
I think its kinda 50-50 still. I just think the vibes were so bad that Rudy being out there in rumors in season would mean you don't get the best out of him and it will lead to the same sniping we have had. I also worry a new coach marginalizes Rudy and his value goes down... I think the downside is likely so much bigger than the upside. I just don't know what changes that makes his value higher in season... I think if he isn't moved by draft night you play out the season with him and just say he's off the market (even if he isn't). I'd only do that if the offers were bad. Not sure where the line is... but if we got at least JC, Capela, #16 for Gobert and Gay I may just have to take it and move on. Is getting Huerter and the Charlotte pick worth waiting all season to make a trade?I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't get moved. WhyI wouldn’t be either but dealing him after the draft or at the deadline is extremely dumb.
In addition to those items... You also have certainty on the value of the pick you are getting. Atlanta may give a 2023 1st and it is number 27 if they have a good year... or the draft may be looking really shallow. It also gives you a chance to show Donovan (keeping Don is Ryan's goal) that he wants to stay in part because player X showed some promise... harder to do if you say "hey we have pick 21 in 2023 who could be real good". Like Embiid probably isn't excited about pick 23 this year but he likes his future with Maxey (2nd year guy I know... but that's the idea). After the draft we don’t get to utilize draft picks in the deal and pick who we want such as pick 16 from Atlanta.
During the season is even worse because if you move on from Rudy you want to do it before the season. For one why risk injury or his value going down and for two how is that going to help you compete if you change the entire makeup of the team mid-season?
If we stupidly give up Gobert, I'd love Ayton. But we absolutely CANNOT trade him to a western contender like PHX or Dallas. He will become an absolute roadblock for the rest of his contract and will play with a vengeance against Utah.Just trade him already.
Ayton, Capela, and Turner all floating in the wind with Rudy.
Oh I agree. I don't want to trade him just to trade him. I was just addressing those who want us to hold out for something that might not ever be offered. If we stupidly give up Gobert, I'd love Ayton. If the offer is JC/Capela for Rudy... then they can take a damn walk and we wait. I feel fairly strongly that we are getting a bit more than that and likely get a stronger offer by draft night.
Good. It wouldn't be a vote of confidence for a front office and administration stating that their priority, above all, is to win next year, and then choose the option that makes it worse.I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't get moved. The vibe I got from Andy makes me think there isn't a lot of urgency on Jazz's part to move him.
How much does #16 really move the needle though? We could always acquire future picks. After the draft we don’t get to utilize draft picks in the deal and pick who we want such as pick 16 from Atlanta.

Wizards have inquired about Dejounte Murray, Malcolm Brogdon, and SGA.He also said he hasn't heard anything about the Wizards being willing to give up the 1oth pick for Conley.
Tony Jones on Checketts show said it's not a slam dunk that Rudy gets moves and the Jazz may very well keep him, but if he does get moved, Atlanta is the most likely destination. Says the Jazz really want Hunter and the Hawks really want to keep him...says maybe the Hawks will add another first to try and get a deal done. The Jazz have durability concerns about all of Hunter, Collins and Capella.
