Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

How about a deal with Phoenix to get them a real 3rd guard and bring us back some more D from the forward spots?

Clarkson/Juancho or Gay for Crowder/Shamet

Maybe we can talk them into adding some sort of pick value for taking the extra Shamet salary we'd be taking?

Ayton for Gobert doesn't work, he only counts for like half money going out.

That Washington Conley mention would be robbery on our part Avdija looks great.

Right.. and the luxury tax is right at 149M.

Would you rather call up OKC and offer a pick to take Saric’s contract off your hands and duck the tax or trade Ayton for a worse player like Turner or Vucevic?

Basically Ayton minus a pick vs Vucevic or Turner.. not really close in my opinion.. which is why it’s more than just the money my man.
They'd have to trade two players without taking any salary back to get under the luxury tax line if they max out Ayton. They'd also have very limited salary flexibility for the next 3 years because Ayton/CP3/Booker/Bridges would already put them over the cap.

If the owner was really that cheap about going into the tax by a few million for a chance to win a title I don’t know what to say. Regardless Ayton won’t be back there.

They've realized that their current team isn't good enough to win a title and maxing Ayton isn't going to bring them closer to contention it just limits any flexibility they have going forward.

If they’ve realized that why aren’t they moving Booker and Paul too? Any Ayton deal unless for a star like Gobert makes you worse.

I think all 3 trades are better than staying put. I have serious concerns in our new coach getting exactly the same level out of Rudy. We know Rudy is good, but does a new system make him look less dominant and thus make him less valuable?

The time to trade him is now.

Why doesn’t this same principle apply to Mitchell? New coach / system would just as likely decrease his value. Even having to share the ball more with a shooting 5 could lower his scoring average by at least a few points.

I'm not sure it does, what's his max? I thought it was like 5 years 177 or so, which would leave Ayton/Crowder a few million short of matching.

Suppose they could add Craig or something.

Ayton’s max starts at 30.3M and Crowder makes 10.2M. Gobert makes 38.2M. It matches fine.

In a S&T Ayton only counts as half outgoing for them, so 15.2+10.2 here, not enough for Gobert, may not be enough even with Craig if that's Aytons starting number (it's crazy close, like within a couple thousand of dollars, not sure either way).

We’d be hard capped at 153M if we took Ayton back in a sign-and-trade. Waive Juancho, renounce Paschall and Forrest then replace them with minimum guys we’d be close to being under that I’m not exact on the numbers. We’d likely have to shed a couple million somehow. Maybe in a Conley trade. If we take Crowder back and an extra player back in a Conley deal that would help.

So we trade Conley for KCP/Deni. Then waive Juancho, renounce Paschall and Forrest. Trade Gobert for Ayton and Crowder. Sign a few minimum guys and I’m pretty sure we’d be under the hard cap apron of 153M.

Donovan
KCP
Crowder
Bogdanovic
Ayton

Clarkson/Royce/Deni off the bench. KCP and Crowder would certainly help with perimeter defense.

Damn, I forgot about that.

Gobert for Williams/White/Vucevic/18/2027 1st

Would you guys do it?

I would but I have always liked white through the good and bad and i may be higher on P Will than most. I think with Mitchell leaving almost assuredly that this would be our best rebuild package. However I don’t think Chicago will do that.

I have no idea what to expect this week...a franchise altering Gobert trade could be made, one or two significant trades could be made involving guys like Conley, Bogey, JC and Royce, one or two very minor moves could be made, or absolutely nothing could happen. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I don't think that a Rudy trade will get done before the draft because teams are low balling.

I think teams are holding their best offers so that they're not used to drive up the market. At this point, both sides know what the other wants in trade discussions. It's just a question of whether both sides have the will to push the deal through.

I'm just guessing, but I'd say --
The probability that Conley gets moved is around 70%.
The probability that Bojan gets moved is around 60% - 65%.
The probability that Rudy gets moved is around 55%.

I think the Jazz are motivated to sell and shake things up. They're going to put a new team on the floor, put a new coach on the floor and see what they have. With Quin leaving, they've already lost continuity anyway.
