Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

What does Sacramento have to offer on top of the package outlined to go from HORRID to fair?

I would remove Davion, and instead include distant firsts. A big part of the allure of the Knicks package, which I don't love myself, is that you have the Knicks future for a considerable amount of time. In this Kings trade, you're only going to 2023.

That first part is exactly what I'm talking about. It's so easy to talk yourself into a certain player, I do it all the time myself which is why I'm cautious. I don't think it's necessarily incorrect to evaluate each pick on a case by case basis, but I think we give too much consideration to the guy we think we're getting and not enough consideration to the historical outcomes of each. Ivey may be a top 5 pick in any year, but like I said top 5 pick isn't what we all hope for. It's an instagram vs reality situation.

I don't disagree with your ranking of the order, but I think most people would have Davion second. That's why my initial instinct was to say I'd rather take what the Knicks have to offer. Young player a team just drafted who they love is one of the hardest types of players to acquire, and that's who Davion is. That reputation far exceeds what I think of him. You've talked about how you could just trade the Kings package into the Knicks package, but what if you do it the other direction? I think if these two teams were trading and the Jazz were out of it Davion would carry too much value. I'm not a huge fan of the distant firsts, but whatever amount of picks Davion amounts to in a trade I'd take the picks instead. I like Quickley+Toppin a lot more than Mitchell, and I think the duo would cost lest than Davion in a trade. Ivey, Quickley, Toppin, and whatever is left over is better than what you're getting from the Kings trade imo.
I also think you are discounting Davion for putting up big numbers on a ****** team when they had players missing... Quickley and Toppin in particular essentially did the same thing. The +/- stuff gets really interesting with them... I agree there, but +/- differences can get weird on bad teams. I love Kenny Hustle and Muscala, but if you think their +/- stuff is completely real they are both like high-level starters and I think they are more like good rotation players.

Hoops rumors said the Bulls are wary of acquiring Gobert. They then said that leaves the Raptors left in the sweepstakes and they are wanting to low ball the trade.

I'm pretty sure Philly would trade Danny Green's contract and #23 for Royce. Not sure if the Jazz would do it though. Danny has 1 year at $10M.

Considering what the Jazz are heading for next season, that's not a bad move. Jazz could get Liddell or Moore, both of whom look like Danny Ainge types.

And at that point I really think you are just overvaluing your own hand. Barnes/4/23 first and two additional distant firsts is really pretty unfair. Say I meet you in the middle... is 4/Barnes/ 23 1st/ 25 1st worse than Quickley/Toppin, 11, 23/25/27 1sts? I'd rather have the Kings package.. in part because I can split the 4th pick and get additional picks regardless of my evaluation of Ivey. Others will pay the Instagram price (all picks are instagram vs reality btw). He is viewed as a tier above the next 5 or so guys... that will get you a premium if you repackage it.

The assessment of HORRID is my biggest issue... its totally in the fairness window. Most of the fake trades from articles are so skewed one way or another this one actually surprised me. If you flip Davion for a pick (something you could easily do) and add one more pick or a swap I think its an obvious yes from us. Donovan is a top 25 player but has some warts.

There's a lot of smoke right now. Just yesterday, the Bulls were supposedly willing to move players for picks to complete a package for Rudy. Besides, the word 'wary' doesn't mean anything.

I'm wary that my coffee shop had better have honey to put in my Cortado.

Yeah, that's true tho. The Austin Horton thing confirmed that, and not only that, but Utah is actively helping the Bulls find that 3rd team

If we are trying to be competitive next year, trading Royce for a late first is pointless. Bash Royce all you want, but the guy has value. He plays hard. He's unselfish. He can shoot and defend.

I’m probably the biggest Mitchell guy on here but if Ivey/Davion/Barnes/2023 1st is on the table you send the paperwork to the league as fast as you can.

I have already said Ivey could come in on Donovan’s role and score 20 PPG. Add in Davion who is a lockdown defender which we desperately need and Barnes who we absolutely could use. Then a 2023 1st from the worst franchise in the league on top of that? Sign me up.

Ivey
Davion
Bogdanovic
Barnes
Gobert

That looks like a better team than what we currently have now. Just saying.

Lest anyone thinks a late first round pick is pure gold witness Caleb Swanigan who passed away yesterday and was the 26th pick in the first round of the 2017 draft. He was drafted ahead of Kuzma, Tony Bradley and Josh Hart.
and even as a dead guy he's better than tony bradley. thanks, dennis!

RIP Swaggy... met him at Summer League... he was funny and cool. This just sucks a lot for the guy to overcome what he did and then end up losing the war.

and the backcourt is still too small.

I have never seen a great defender absolutely die on screens like Royce does.
