Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

He would choose to bring in Sexton + the haul for Donovan minus a 1st(price for Sexton) over sticking with Donovan.
I'm not giving a first for Sexton... I think its JC for Sexton straight up or Bogey for Sexton type of deal. If they want to throw in Okoro (who they are said to still like but he has been disappointing) then we can talk.

For me its a purely opportunistic buy low. You look at like Anfernee Simons signing for 4/100M and if you get Sexton at 4/60-70M I think you did well.

The Jazz traded the pick that became Magic Johnson as compensation for acquiring 33 year old Gail Goodrich. So yeah... that Mike Conley trade is not even close to the worst in franchise history.
You completely missed the point. He is talking about known quantity trades and with taken into account it is hands down the worst trade in franchise history. It turned what should have been a 7 year championship window into no window at all. Compound that with horrible draft choices and insane free agent signings with the MLE and you have a master class on how to destroy a team.

If Sexton would take the full MLE and get a player option on the 4th year and if the Cavs agree to make him unrestricted that would be a home run. His qualifying offer is like 9M so I'm guessing he'd just take that and be unrestricted next year when he is hopefully coming off a healthy year.

We literally beat the Clippers if he’s healthy.
What in the hell are you talking about. We couldn't even beat an unhealthy clippers so if you are going to make us healthy then you have to make them healthy as well. Anyone with a brain knows that it took the clippers a few games to adjust their game plan and it was over because we were incapable of making any adjustments.

Wait... so the pick that became Darius Bazley, Grayson Allen, the pick that became Walker Kessler (who we now have), Jae for Mike who made an AS team is the worst trade in franchise history.

I get that it was our "shot" and it didn't hit but we need to chill. We didn't have a championship window and made a trade to hopefully open up a window... it missed that very high bar... it happens.

We are not trading Donovan mitchell for a package highlighted by Sexton. As Tony Jones mentioned, we can just sign Sexton.

If Spida were in then deal then it would be a package highlighted by Mobley, Sexton, and lots of draft picks.

Cleveland also had JC and got rid of him so I suspect they don't want him back.

My guess is that Cleveland would love a vet to mentor Garland. Conley for Sexton as the two main pieces makes sense. We get younger. They get a vet and don't lose Sexton for nothing.
How would we sign him? We’re over the cap, right? So unless he’d take the MLE, which seems unlikely, we can’t sign him.

You act like the guys taken are the guys we would have drafted. Also it was between the pacers and us for Conley. If we don't go for Conley the we are right there to give a future 1st for Brogdon. So we would be talking about Brogdon, Crowder, Allen and likely Brandon Clarke who is the player the griz used our pick to get. The thunder were locked in on Bazley and were going to do what was needed to grab him. Clarke is the player we should have targeted if we kept that pick. Add Brogdon, Crowder, Allen and Clarke to Mitchell, Gobert, Bojan, Ingles, Clarkson and Royce absolutely makes us a championship contender and blows away the team we assembled with Conley.

We’re we not up 25 in Game 6 to go to a Game 7 at home?

Yes, we gave up SO many assets. That one deal alone crippled us. Not the Favors trade or drafting Azubuike or Bradley or trading a top-12 pick for a one year rental of Hill or trading a first for Rubio. It was the Conley deal. Didn’t you know?

Yeah... I did NOT like that Conley trade at the moment it happened. I don't like it now either. But that's not the main reason we didn't win a championship.

Amen and amen. The narrative about the Conley deal has become silly. We took a shot (and at least we took a shot) and missed but that is what happens with most trades for most teams. I want to see a banner as bad as anyone but I am glad that I am a fan of a team that has many wins and as many playoff appearances as the Jazz do over the last number of years.

Anyone who thinks Mobley would be included in a package for Donovan is high off their ***.

I freaking wish so but no way CLE is trading him.
Haha beat me to it.

Someone said some **** like 2-3 dudes, one being Mobley AND we got picks in that scenario for Don.

Like, Jesus Christ you guys….

The general handling of the backup center position was so much more damaging while providing so little value. Investing two first round picks in backups and an MLE and BAE (or whatevs Davis signed) and then investing another first and some seconds to clear the books of those guys is sooooooooo much more damaging.

@seattlejazzfan

lol does somebody think that? mobley is one of the most untouchable players in the league right now. they might not trade him straight up for durant.
Especially right now in his rookie contract. In a couple of years when he is due to get paid, and Allen already with his $100MM contract, they Cavs may be tight on money and be willing to move for the right price. No way they move Mobley off of his rookie contract for Mitchell. Maybe if we had seen playoff bubble Donovan this year too teams would value him more, but if we had bubble Don this entire team would likely look completely different right now.
