Agreed. Lonzo has had knee issues going back to high school and is still owed over $60 mil the next 3 seasons. Love his archetype as a player but the injury issues are way too prevalent. I might trade them Conley but not trading any other assets considering the Jazz could potentially be on the hook for over $20mil in '24-25 when Conley is already off the books. The Bulls fans are basically resigned to the fact he will likely be out the entire '22-23 season after this surgery. Not to go back to the maelstrom but:
If the Bulls are trading Lonzo, it’s cuz they think he’s busted. So yeah, not sending assets for that. The value being swapped is present value (an NBA basketball player that can be really good, and saving them at least ~$20-30 million real dollars) for a CHANCE at future value.
I make that trade straight across, I’m not attaching ****.
If Jazz are going to take a wild swing on that type of player I might monitor Ben Simmons this season to see if he fits with KD/Kyrie. Yes Simmons brings his own set of issues but depending on the asking price might be the better reclamation project. He could build up his confidence in relative anonymity out here in Utah compared to Philly or Brooklyn.
