I've thought about this a lot too, but I'm not sure how good we would've been. Is a lineup of Conley/Sexton/Bogey/Markkanen/Gobert really better than Conley/Mitchell/Bogey/Royce/Gobert? Obviously Markkanen is a better player overall than Royce, at least offensively, but Sexton isn't nearly as good as Mitchell. Seems like that team is destined for a first-round exit just like last years team. I guess we possibly could've used the draft assets we got in the Mitchell deal to trade for another star to play with Gobert, but I'm not sure who that would've been, or if it would've worked out any better than Mithell and Gobert did.

Gobert is one of my all-time favorite Jazzmen and I believe he is the 3rd best player in franchise history. At the same time, I also believe he makes a much bigger impact in the regular season than he does in the playoffs. He's also on the wrong side of 30 now, and big men in the NBA tend to age faster. Given the unbelievable asset haul we got for Gobert, and given his age and contract, I think we made the right move.

Plus, I think Minnesota is going to take the regular season very seriously, whereas a lot of teams will be more focused on the playoffs and won't care about seeding and will probably rest their guys a lot. I think there's a good chance Minnesota gets the 1 or 2 seed in the west.

Yeah I think Rudy+Edwards is probably enough to at least get them a 4 seed and that doesn't even include KAT and the other guys on their roster. There are some questions regarding some of last year's playoff teams in the WC...like what is going on in Phoenix?
I'll be pleasantly surprised if they end up a lower playoff seed though.

I think if they kept Gobert and still traded Don the starting unit could be: Rudy/Markk/Royce/Sexton/Conley with Bogey, JC, NAW, and Agbaji off the bench? Honestly I do think that is a better all around team but potentially still a first round playoff exit. They would've had all the picks and swaps from the Don trade too. It's all water under the bridge at this point though..

At some point I made a thread or a post like "Sexton is 75% of what Mitchell is" and I think that might have been very dumb.
 
Where do people place the odds of the Minnesota pick being better than the Brooklyn pick? I think there will be like a 10% chance it’s better, which is impressive because there are three teams involved on that pick.
 
The thing about minny is that I feel like we will shortly see a decline in KAT. He just seems so tired and joyless. Life experiences like he has had will do that to you. When Rudy's athleticism declines he will fall if hard. I don't see him playing an "old man's game." He will go 100% at all time. It is what I love about him. There will come a point where he will slow a bit, and that quick twitch split second on defense is what makes him remarkable.

Because every non-Jazz fan isn’t extremely high on Minnesota. Sportsbooks have their win total at 48.5.
 
The people here predicting TWolves downfall are doing so out of delusion, nothing based in reality.

KAT is going to decline because he is going to lose joy in the game?

Rudy Gobert is going to decline because of athleticism going away (his jumping ability has been gone for about 3 years now. He's one of the most disciplined defenders in the NBA, he's going to be an elite defender into his mid 30s).

ANT isn't actually going to improve and is going to stall out?

Oh and the haters haven't even mentioned Jaden McDaniels,one of the rising defensive stars in the NBA who has aot of offensive upside.

If you're talking 3+ years out, yeah anything can happen and nothing is a given, but until then you are looking at an elite team with upside.

Oh I think its much higher than that. The Brooklyn pick is actually the worse of the Nets and Sixers pick so weigh that in. I think Minny will def win more than Brooklyn... that team ain't built to win 55+ games but could be a terror in the playoffs. The Sixers are likely better than the wolves but its close and East is pretty tough.

I have them at 3 or 4 but that is a huge step forward for them. I think they will take a season or 2 to really gel, but provided Rudy does not see a big drop-off as he gets older, they will be solid contenders for the top spot for a few years to come for sure.

I’m not certain you read my post as it was more a probability question, but over on 48.5 is easy money. I may have to put something down on it. I’ve never bet before, but (time and patience willing) I would even put down a bet on them winning the title based on the odds.

I am probably going to have to get into gambling online... not sure the best place to do it. That's free money imo. I think I'd do better at sports gambling than picking stocks.

With both Minny and Cleveland you are betting just that chaos happens... cuz it does. It might be that those picks are all in the 20s but between injuries and just the ever changing landscape you never know what can happen. They are both as solid of bets as you will find because teams that think they will be ****** won't put those picks on the table... The Knicks and Lakers have been very hesitant to do so as we have seen.

Cleveland and Minny are about as good of bets as you will get... even though their rosters are loaded with good young talent.

You’d be better off finding someone who can do it for you or if you are in Vegas anytime soon. The offshore illegal sites are super sketchy. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, etc are the way to go.
 
Minnesota over 48.5 does actually seem like free money. Their schedule is the easiest in the league to start. They will likely start 6-1 or 7-0. Then you only need them to go .500 the rest of the way after that.

Not in CA. I use off-shore betting sites when I do.
