Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Except Favors was a very high level perimeter defender for his size. Walker is no where close to that.
The stats posted didn't distinguish that. It was simple points, rebounds and blocks. I simply posted that I think Kessler could achieve those numbers with minutes and touches. Probably like 14 or 15 points and 11-13 rebounds per game with 2.5 blocks or something. Which I consider better than the 16, 8, 1.5. Plus Kessler points would probably be more efficient than favors points too.

I really think it was more about what Don said it was about. He became exhausted with the social-political culture of Utah. I think the governor (or whatever politician it was) saying he needed to be educated on black history was the final straw. Then there was the black girl who died of suicide in Utah. I think it all just added up and trolls/*****eads on social media probably made it even worse.

That and just the overall pressure of the failtures of the blown 3-1 series leads. I think the Gobert stuff and his teammates not being good enough is way overblown. He always had great teammates in Utah and Utah (until the final year) usually had great depth.
I think this is largely ********. The biggest issue Don had IMO is when he was picked last for the all star team. That stuff hurt him pretty badly. Part of it was because he plays for Utah, part of it is because he didn't really have a lot in common with the average NBA star, especially with his upbringing.

The most important thing for Don is his brand, end of story. At some point he figured it couldn't happen in Utah. Every other piece of reasoning is reverse engineered from that point.

Game has changed a lot in the last 5 seasons. So much more spacing and much faster pace. Zero chance Kessler would have posted 16 pts a game going back to when Favors was.

Don only figured out it couldn't happen in Utah when Utah traded him. Wasn't there just a story that Hardy and Don were eating dinner and excited to work together after Hardy was hired and before Don was traded? I could be wrong.

Don was done with having to deal with Rudy and mediocrity. I don't think he was ever 100% done with Utah until he was dealt.

I’d say he was frustrated with Utah, but he was done with Utah when they traded Rudy for assets and not another all star level person to pair with him.

The Jazz made the right call in taking the assets from both trades.

Done after the Rudy trade based off what evidence?

Didn’t Mitchell go publicly silent after the Rudy trade, and all of a sudden the Jazz’s narrative regarding trading Don went from a firm no to there were all of a sudden rumors of the Jazz having talks? Then Mitchell spent a month pandering to NY and Miami fan bases?

He since then has a couple of interviews were he says he wasn’t having fun, said he could of played harder, and was relieved when they got bounced from the playoffs.

Yes, I’m taking liberties by reading between the lines. I think Don did the Jazz a solid and told them he wanted out after the Rudy trade. It was a very honorable thing for him to do, and benefited both parties greatly.

Yep. Years ago bigs got a lot more touches in the paint/post. The game has moved from bigs down low to the perimeter big time. Easier for a big with no outside shot to score more points back in favors playing days. Good point.

Well they already have a relationship seeing as Hardy was one of Mitchell’s coaches on team USA. I’m not sure you can look at the way Mitchell plays this year compared to last and look at how his defense has improved and not think he had at least one foot out the door. I’m not saying he did, no one really knows. But there were plenty of signs pointing to Mitchell wanting out.

Question for fellow Jazz fanz.

Would you rather cap space heading into free agency at the expense of receiving assets for the likes of JC, KO, Beasley, ect or sell low (only take back expiring contracts) or keep those players but essentially get nothing for them.

Reason I ask is I look at a player like Shake Milton who is a FA at seasons end and as a starter 43 games (career) he averages 15.2 pts and 4.4 assist per game 43% from three. The 9 games he started this season he averages 20.9 pts and 6.1 assist. Seems like the perfect candidate in free agency who we can offer more $$$ (if we can create cap space) and more opportunity.

Hmm.. I think Hawks are purposefully showcasing John Collins to make his contract more appealing. He has scored 20+ in 4 of last 5 games with more shots, touches and higher usage % than he has had all season.

Tonight vs Kings he played 40 minutes and had 22 points (on very effective 63/50/100 shooting tbf), 12 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals and 3 turnovers.

I was interested when he was a "buy low" guy who wasnt properly utilized... but if they keep showcasing him like this its gonna drive the price up to a range I wouldn't pay.

Capella has been out so they have been using him at the 5. Spending less time in the corner and more time as the roll man where is his greatest strength.

I think Capella being out definitely has given him more PnR action.. but they definitely play OO at Center whenever he is in and Collins plays at 4. He does seem to play like a center at times, but OO played 32 minutes last game and was the center 100% of those minutes.

Thats what I meant, playing the back up five minutes although against the Kings he finished the game there with OO on the bench. Not sure if the stats back it up but from what I've seen he is doing most of his scoring in the minutes OO is on the bench.

Yeah also sometimes it seems they dont seem to have any other offensive plays than guard iso and PnR.
