Isn’t he like 5’6”? That would be a good foot under what some people are wanting.
That is correct. We can’t have anyone under 6’5 going forward.

One way to look at it is like this: If our offense gets incredibly worse and we suck as a team without Mike Conley then that means we are gonna need a lot of help soon (due to mikes age) so might as well trade him and take the hit while increasing our draft pick to get us the help we will need anyways regardless of whether we trade Mike or not.I have to say, as the deadline approaches, I'm more and more on the fence about trading Mike away. At the start of the season I thought he would have a good season, and my hope is he would play his way in to netting us some assets. Now, I feel like I would miss the way our offense looks when he is playing too much. I also like the idea of drafting Cason Wallace or Anthony Black and having Mike mentor them for a season/half season.
I do think he helps us win games, and so I think the balance is:
assets we can get for him + better draft position + cap space + development time for NAW/THT - aesthetically pleasing basketball - mentorship - losing a good human being from our team
Who becomes the primary ball handler long term when mike is gone anyways in the future. Might as well figure that our right now in this season. If sexton or THT or clarkson or NAW do a great job then cool. If they suck and we lose more games because of mikes absence then cool. We now have a better pick to draft the primary ball handler to replace Mike that we will eventually need anyway whether mike is traded or not.Who becomes the primary ball handler if we trade Mike? That'd be my biggest concern.

Good question. I dont have an answer. If I knew where the picks were to land then I would have an answer. Like I put Kesslers value as a top 5-10 pick (I think he is a rookie of the year type player with his production this season). So those Lakers picks would have to be very very good.Would you trade Kessler if it got you the 2 Lakers picks? I think I would if I could move everyone else I wanted to move. That would crater the defense and the loses would pile on.

I have been wondering if maybe NAW is getting ****ed because we dont want him to play too good cause we want to sign hin to a cheap deal. I dont know his contract situation though

While those Laker picks might end up being very good, 2027 and 2029 is to me too far away. Kessler is good now and I would say projects as a decent NBA starter. Rolling the dice that either or both those future picks would be at least as good as he is I feel a bad bet. I also would hope by 2027 and certainly by 2029 that the Jazz would be legit title contenders. I don't think the Lakers are wanting Kessler right now anyway.Would you trade Kessler if it got you the 2 Lakers picks? I think I would if I could move everyone else I wanted to move. Overall your assessment is definitely fair. The funny thing is I’ve been one of if not the biggest Conley defenders on here the last few years.
I threw out an initial take on Sexton based on my eye test and it seems like it may be closer than I thought or leaning towards Conley a little. I will keep an eye on this going forward.

The problem is none of them are true #1 material as of yet. As a group, added to a real #1 option, then yeah we would be solid contenders at the very least. But I do not think Lauri is at that level yet. Not many teams without a consensus top 10 player win rings. It can happen, but it is pretty damn rare. Would need to be solid at all positions and at least 4 deep on the bench, like the Piston's teem in the mid-ought's.I guess he would fit in with the "win now" mode. But are Collins/Lauri/Kessler trio ready to make a run at the Chip?
Then again, I guess the West is really wide open now right?
If not Collins, who else that's available to be had via trade or FA that would fit the bill?
He’s bigger than that and is a good defender… I worry more about durability than size. Not saying it’s something I’d do but Ainge may have a bead on some replacement pg either in the draft or FA.Isn’t he like 5’6”? That would be a good foot under what some people are wanting.
They are a mess… I do think Massai deserves some of that stink but yeah… Nurse may have gone too far from normal basketball. The great Toronto experiment.
In other news, the heel turn on Nick Nurse's public perception this year has been drastic, similar to Brad Stevens two years ago and Sean McVay. Still think he is a good coach, but we are so quick to label someone a wunderkind, when they can be on the hot seat within a season
Yeah, I don't think he was 5'6". I did, however, think he was 5'11" but after looking him up I'm pretty sure it's Jalen Brunson I'm confusing him with. He’s bigger than that and is a good defender… I worry more about durability than size. My biggest fear is he’s regressed so much this year, and he has the contract he has. That alone hurts the jazz future big time. Would he be better with the jazz? I think so, but how much better. He might be better than Vando now, but Vando is a player in progression, I think he’s one of those players in a slow progression, but IMO he will continue to progress into a very good player. Mark my words he will be a far better player than Collins. I could be wrong but that’s what my gut tells me. It would be a huge mistake to trade him. He can help us lose now and win later. We're reportedly still interested in John Collins but I'm not sure how he fits with Lauri / Kessler
I think FVV is likely right around Brunson size... He's an MFer on defense though. He's super smart... but he has durability concerns and when he is dinged up it really affects his performance.Yeah, I don't think he was 5'6". I did, however, think he was 5'11" but after looking him up I'm pretty sure it's Jalen Brunson I'm confusing him with.
ETA: damn, Brunson is 6'1". Who's the guy who's 5'11"?
The impression I get from multiple media types... both local and national... We are interested in Collins but not super interested... we are only interested if we get a pick too. It was described as he's a guy we like but not a guy we are targeting if that makes sense. I think Ainge has zero problem walking away if he doesn't get a pick. I think he smells blood in the water in Atlanta. My biggest fear is he’s regressed so much this year, and he has the contract he has. That alone hurts the jazz future big time. There are nights I get frustrated with Conley cuz guys are shooting over and through him... he's limited. Against the Hornets the other night he had like a 2 minute stretch where he was a terror on defense and I was like... Holy hell where has this been. Mike's great at maneuvering through screens and generally staying in front... he knows where to be. Sexton drifts in no mans land off ball too much still and sometimes for seemingly no reason. I think he also gets into guys and is really annoying when he is on ball. I don't think either guy is worse than Beasley on defense.Overall your assessment is definitely fair. The funny thing is I’ve been one of if not the biggest Conley defenders on here the last few years.
