Trade the pick (Overrated Draft)

Kanter is elite athlete compared to McDermott. Do we really need another tall dude who can't jump or defend?

Mcdermott had a 36.5 inch vertical at the combine.

I think someone spotted him 10 inches though.

I have been thinking that trading the pick if it wasn't top 3 is pretty much a lock. There is absolutely no reason to get another mid range guy. I Look at the Bucks or the Cavs as a possible trade partner if we trade up. If the Jazz do trade up it's for Jabari. #5, #23 and possibly on of the core.
I actually think they may be looking harder at a trade for an established player. Kevin Love is the obvious choice. I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Jazz trade #23 for Brooke Lopez. There is no way the Jazz get 3 more rookies on the roster next year.

All I can say is Jrue Holiday was had for the 5th pick last year and this years pick from the Pelicans.

Nobody thought that was possible. I would take Otto Porter Jr or Giannis Antetokounmpo over the guys that will be left in this draft.

Maurice Harkless - Has a good balanced game. And he shot 38% from 3 last year.

Actually we traded the 6th pick and we gave up this year pick top 5 protected.

We are moving up, its happening. #5, #23 and Kanter are gone. Fine with me, no loss, but better hit on the pick.

He's ivory, the rest are ebony. But he knows how to live in perfect harmony.

Seriously, if you don't know that he has an elite skill, you haven't been watching much basketball.

He is an Elite College Scorer but what exactly is he elite at? There are tons of Elite college scorers who never make it in the NBA

i really hope the jazz don't try to love up.

and on what planet does #23 get us lopez?

Lopez is a guy that is making too much money. He is often injured. When healthy like Bogut can be a force. The Nets are looking at luxury tax and with Garnett retiring and Lopez off the books they could start to rework there roster. Maybe even sign a guy like Lance Stevenson. It's a trade that helps both teams.

Picks 6, 7 and 8 are likely on the trade block. Not sure what the market is for 5, but there are good players to draft there.

i disagree. he's their best player and they have $$$ coming out the wazoo. if they were to trade him it'd take a lot more than #23.

Would you say that A.Morrison had elite skill in college? Jimmer? Just asking for honest opinion.

I prefer Randle , but if we could trade down and get LaVine or James Young I 'd be fine with it

There are scorers and then there are shooters. McDermott is an elite shooter. That's a HUGE difference.
And no, neither Jimmer nor Morrison had elite skills. They were tremendous scorers. And as you mentioned, there are plenty of those who never make it in the NBA.

McDermott: career averages of 55%/46%. Find another shooter who has had those kind of numbers. And his 3-PT% wasn't through lack of attempts!
As I've said a number of times, McDermott likely won't be a starter. But he's going to be a candidate every year for the 6th man award. Imagine the draw and kick plays that could be run with McDermott standing outside. A rich man's Kyle Korver.
