Favors is the back up center. Which opens up more minutes at the 4 positions.
Depending on how Lyles does this year will determine if Booker is here next year.
There is no log jam when Booker only has 1 year on his contract and Lyles is 19.

Booker is a fan favorite. I doubt he is on the team in Nov 2016. Lyle is a potential big in an elite three man rotation. Booker is the fourth big in an elite big man rotation.
 
Jazz will have $20+ million dollars to start out next year in free agency with only Booker coming due. If he has another year like last season, I can see them bringing him back. Of course, part of it will depend on how quickly Trey Lyles shows he's ready to contribute. It's usually not wise to take someone out of the lineup until their replacement is better than them.

Probably not after FA this year.
 
Booker probably gets taken over by Lyles in the later half of the season unless Booker improves his shooting consistency.

This is why I don't see Booker here long term. He's just not that good. I don't think he stays on as a fourth big and I hope we have a better third big.

Not bloody likely. Booker might get traded, but I don't believe Lyles is anywhere close to taking Booker's job this year.

agree with Cappy. Booker is able to put a unique imprint on the game with this group of guys (as currently constructed). It's an imprint that is based on athleticism and scrappiness. Extending posessions; saving others. If Lyles steps in at some point, then it won't be because he's beat Booker at his game. It'll be because he makes his own kind of impact more impactful than Booker's. I don't see that happening at all next year. If it does, it'll be late in the year.

I also expect Booker to have worked on his 3-point game, which will make him that much harder to dislodge. .....if he doesn't get traded.
 
Lyles isn't going to play meaningful minutes this year. Booker will. Of course I am assuming that our big rotation goes injury free, which isn't likely. . .
