In the past, I’ve said Joe should play some 4. But with how our roster is currently constructed, I don’t think how Joe has been used will (or should) be changed (aside from load management stuff, and possibly coming off the bench). Positionally speaking, I think we know what he is.

Sure, it all depends on the matchup. Ingles is not likely to cover Siakam or Giannis either.

Can he guard Saric, Sabonis, Marvin Williams, Love, Kuzma, Olynick?

Not to mention any three that is playing the four in a small ball lineup?

Not sure how folks can dismiss out of hand the possibility of Ingles playing any 4

Yeah, I agree but who do the Jazz have to be a bruiser/ rebounder? They are not playing Davis and Gobert together. And Jeff Green gets a whopping 4 boards a game.

This’ll be a thing to watch. It could be our Achilles Heel. Even with better rebounders, we’ve struggled to get rebounds in the clutch to close out wins.

Did you ask how you tell who is what position? Yep. Did I give you an answer? Yep


I mean think back to last season. Ask yourself who you considered to be the 4 for the jazz most. Was it favors? Crowder? Joe? I think we agree that Joe was rarely used at the 4 position for the jazz as long as favors and Crowder were on the roster. Even niang was used at 4 more than Joe and he barely played. Don't be silly

Read back in the thread. My response was to NCS saying that jingles would never play the 4. That is the thread you jumped in on and the context for this post.

I never said you said these things. And I’ve never disputed anything in your second paragraph, so stop being silly yourself.
 
If only the season would get here we'd have something better to talk about. It doesn't help that training camp starts a week later (or six days anyway) than last year. Still just over two weeks until media day but at least next week we should have the remaining players back in SLC.

Your not bright at all. You put a scenario of Booker being a SF. He's never been a SF because his skill isn't that of a SF. Positions are based on skill, not size. Joe, Bojan aren't Power Forwards! Has nothing to do with their size. Trevor Booker is a Power Forward at 6 ft 8. Dennis Rodman is 6 ft 7 and out-guarded almost every Power Forward in the league even though they were taller than him. He's ranked #23 all time in rebounds. Charles Barkley was 6 ft 6 and was a Power Forward. Height has nothing to do with position. There were just as many "undersized" Power Forwards back then as there are today. It's just today the Power Forwards aren't confined to the post.
And we do have a Power Forward, his name is Ed Davis. The rest of the time we play today's world of "position-less basketball".

Look up the rosters of the other 29 team in the NBA and look at their PF's before you continue to open your mouth and look stupid. It's as though you haven't watched basketball in a long long time.

Lmao, Basketball reference DOES NOT sort lineups by height. They refer to what the team has that player listed as. Otherwise they would have 6 ft 6 Charles Barkley listed as a SG, or SF, not a PF. Or 6"7 Dennis Rodman listed as something else. They would also have Kevin Durant (6"11) listed as the PF instead of 6"7 Draymond Green.

It doesn't matter anymore. It used to. A Power Forward used to be the guy that wasn't afraid of going into the post to bang around with the Big's and could secure a rebound. It was a position made of Blood and Brawn. The rules of the NBA has made it so everything is a foul which has removed the need and purpose for a tough Center or Power Forward. That's why you PG's like Westbrook going in the post and getting 10 rebounds a game. It doesn't matter anymore. The NBA is going to introduce that the players play on a court made of marshmallows next to prevent booboo's.

Nope. They breakdown the minutes played by position. Not sure how they do this but it has nothing to do with how the team lists the player.

We don’t have a roster spot right now... if they did cut Bradley it would be once camp opens or after the preseason if he struggles. Booker likely doesn’t get a spot before then. Haven’t seen that he signed anywhere yet.

You're saying I'm not bright by saying that size doesn't matter for position in the NBA. You back that up by pointing out the handful of exceptions to the rule by comparing Trevor Booker to Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley, Rodman etc were able to play bigger because they had exceptional skill, Trevor Booker doesn't have exceptional skill.

The attribute common to Barkley, Rodman, Draymond, and Ben Wallace isn’t skill, it’s strength and hustle. Perhaps more to the point, one doesn’t have to be a star in order to be an NBA player.
