Trey Burke - Fractured Finger on Right Hand

The reason this bums me out is because most of the fun of this season will come in watching the young guys develop. It will delay Trey's development, and make his first year all the more difficult. All other teams and PG's will have a good head start this year on him, so they'll be in good shape and mental condition when Trey comes back fresh out of the box recovering from a really stupid injury.

Now imagine if something happens to Favors, Kanter or Hayward.... if even for 2-3 weeks one of them is out this team would be utterly horrible. My 29 win prediction looks very very optimistic at this point. I think our chances at finishing in bottom 3 just got very real.

I agree, I was also excited to see Burke running the show and proving people wrong.

This sucks, when I saw it on from my PC I couldn't really see how it happened but when I saw the replay on TV last night it looked like CP grabbed his hand pulled and twisted very sneaky quick like, but I would need to see it more to really believe that happened. Although CP does have a history of being a bit dirty (sucker punching man bags being the most noted).

On a side note I just broke my pinky 3 weeks ago and needed two pins, so after surgery they waited one week to take off the big wrapping/padding, then they made a custom brace/cast thing so I could move it more freely then just a regular splint but still have protection on it and I have to wear that for 5 weeks, so that would be a total of 6 weeks. Obviously different fingers and breaks and I don't play sports for a living so time tables would be different let alone getting agility and movement back in the finger as well as getting back into game shape. So just wanted to throw my personal experience out there.

That sucks, I couldn't see it very well. Maybe CP3 was just trying to go for the ball and was a little late? I heard his finger bent weird too.

I watched the video in this thread a few times and couldn't see where trey got "hit" as he described it. His right hand is shielded by his body the entire time right up until the very end when Chrissy goes past him after the ball had been passed. It was an opportune time for a cheap shot, the ball was heading toward Enes, the defense was all in motion and Chrissy was running past Trey.

If he did that on purpose he is a hack. I hope the jazz send the film to the nba.

Hope your finger gets better.

kobe said he can play with torn achilles if he were injuired in playoff time

so, no excuse trey burke, you have to play.

Depends on if he learned to deal with injury from Kobe or from Carlos "Hang-nail - 8 more weeks" Bozzer.

I don't know if it does. Do you remember when Blake Griffin went down in the pre-season prior to his first season? He spent the season on the bench watching how guys run plays, the pace of the games, etc, etc. Once he got back on the court he was ready to play.

I do think Burke could benefit quite a bit from watching the plays develop and seeing himself in each situation. I really do think this will give him a chance to watch and learn, and hopefully he can come in and feel a bit more comfortable on the court. Who knows? He could even take another vacation in Spokane with the Jedi Master.

What's this 8-12 week garbage? A girl on my daughter's soccer team broke HER finger and is coming back after 4 weeks. NBA players <<<< 8 year old girls!

I'm sure you use your face to break your fall when someone tackles you, but must of us use our hands. Hence you miss time with arm injuries in soccer at all.

Lol good point, but still there is no finesse needed with your hands in soccer.

Put a brace on your finger and you're good.

I once played an entire game with a completely broken middle finger on my off hand, as a point guard, and scored 17 points, taping it up with my index finger. This was in a fairly competitive men's league. Then played about three more games, one I scored 20 points in. However, I didn't go for treatment and instead of getting better, the finger got worse. So, I just called it a season and let the finger heal. Of course, it didn't heal straight, so now I have arthritis in it. With the treatment these guys get, he should be back sooner than later. Let's hope.

Do ed anyone think that Burke playing in the second quarter caused more damage?

Did it cause more physical harm? Maybe some additional soft tissue damage but probably small in comparison to the bone break.

What it did do, atleast for me, is show that this kid is tough and wants to play. He fights to overcome and didn't back down and that is someone I want to cheer for.
