Trey Burke Great in the Clutch

Interesting article by, Clint Peterson. I know the last season wasn't a good one to gauge anything, but when it came to the clutch times, Burke was the best of the Jazz team, while Favors and surprisingly Hayward were also better than their usual selves.

For all the perceived faults of Trey Burke as a rookie, he might be the Jazz’s most clutch player, making good when it counts most.

In 128 minutes last season Trey Burke was among the best in the clutch. His FG% shoots up to 52% on 56 FGAs and 59% 3FGs on 22 3PAs.

Trey Burke also added 14-15 FTs, 14 rebounds and 15 assists in the clutch last yr and his 59% 3FGs was best in the NBA for at least 22 3PAs.

Best Clutch FG%, starting PGs, 2013-14: Tony Parker 64.1% (39 FGAs), Trey Burke 51.8% (56 FGAs), Mike Conley 51.7% (60 FGAs)

16% of Trey Burke’s 2013-14 FGAs came in clutch situations.

Minimum 100 Clutch Minutes, 2013-14, TS% NBA Leaders: Shawn Marion 83.7%, Chris Bosh 68.5%, Trey Burke 67.9%

Trey Burke is truly exceptional in the clutch, and this trio of young Utah Jazz phenoms have that rare knack to step up big in the moment, and will assuredly only age well in time, giving Utah a plethora of options in tight situations late in games.

It's cool to hate Trey now. And Kanter.

Patty Mills is also clutch.

But he's a team player and wholeheartedly accepts the reserve role. I'm not sure Burke is ever gonna be happy if Exum gets to start. I hope he can prove me wrong, but yeah we'll see.

I think the video speaks for itself.

im going to use my first post on this board to state that trey burke and enes Kanter, suck.

Trey burke cant get to the hole cant create a shot for himself, struggles getting his shot off against taller than him guards, isnt a creatice or dynamic passer, and to boot is horrid on defense, he gets abused, at least he tries though.

which is more i can say for Kanter, he has zero desire to play defense, and even when he tries he sucks at it, his lateral quickness is horrible at best, his vertical is maybe a bit better than greg ostertags, he can improve his defensive court awareness but i dont think he wants to he doesnt care about defense, he doesnt block shots or alter shots or gets his hands in lanes, and he doesnt consitently win on the defensive glass because he doesnt box out and even when he does he still struggles because of his lack of length and leaping ability.

on offense he's a black hole, he cant pass nor knows where to, his jumper is inconsistent, he's good for a few offensive rebounds a game, which is mind boggling how many offensive boards he gets when he cant grab a defensive board to save his life. He's pretty physical on the block in the offensive post but not enough to make up for his total lack of anything resembling defense.

Again just to be clear i think burke and Kanter suck and the sooner they are gone the better.

having said that if either or both turn out to be all stars i'll be the first to admit i was wrong and eat my crow.

I somewhat understand the Burke hate...yeah he'll never be an elite level PG in the league, can't get to the hole, he's small, not that great of a passer, not quick/fast enough, blah, blah, blah but I keep going back to the Robert Horry comparison. Horry was never an all-star, played most of his career as a backup, had career averages of 42%FG & 34% 3PT, but that mother ****er was clutch beyond belief. That alone made him an extremely valuable player in the league. He doesn't have 6 rings on his fingers because he was a good towel waver from the bench. I think Trey can be a similar type player.

This is sort of way off tbh. Horry wasn't very valuable simply because he hit a handful or two of huge shots in his career. He was valued because he was very athletic, long, could hit the 3 and had a solid basketball iq. This helped make him a very solid defender and a player of offense who could stretch the floor yet get some points here or there on alley-oops or drives...sort of like a Ronnie Brewer type guy but a with a shot.

Horry didn't come out of the gate as a BB genius...as his career progressed, yes, he became a smarter player. So after only one season, you think Burke's BB IQ has topped out and can't get any better?
