What's new

Trey Burke just tweeted this:

Hi, my name is Orangello and even prior to the draft I wanted no part of Burke.

Similar to honz. He was the only guy pimping Hayward and fortunately he was right (well, outside of KOC taking Paul George). I really hope you are dead wrong on this one. But you deserve credit for sticking to your beliefs. If Burke is a bust, you'll definitely own the "I told you so" rights.

Wtf would I do that?? No offense, bro.. but that is downright retarded. Srsly.

Bro, only thing that matters is SL. If there was a re-draft, any smart team would take Ian Clark 1st overall. LMAO are you a dummy for thinking otherwise.

Anyone who is more excited for Clark than Burke is an idiot.

Clark will struggle to get minutes in blowouts this year. He's not that good. He's a crappy bench player on a crappy team.

Come on guys.

He hasn't even played a minute in the NBA and he is crappy? A lot of teams wanted to sign him.

Exactly, I don't recall anyone on here that didn't want Burke in the draft and yet so many jump off the wagon with a poor sl performance???!!! I wish our fans could wake up and "wait to see" on a guy before they decide to boo him at the draft or sacrifice them at the first sign of difficulty.

Same goes for those tht act like he is the savior of the Jazz. Guy may be great. Guy may suck. I obviously hope for the former. But time will tell. Grab the popcorn, sit back and enjoy the ride. Let's see what the kid can do when thrown into the fire. (I tend to trust the Jazz when it comes to making a smart pick at PG).

Let me preface this by saying I think Burke will turn into a fine NBA player. That being said....

He is going struggle and struggle mightily this year. He can't get his shot off in the paint. He is in an offense that hasn't run a lot of pick and roll since Corbin took over. He doesn't have a player that can bail the team out with 5 secs on the shot clock. I don't know if Favors or Kanter have ever set a real NBA pick yet.

Those are all easy fixes, but they take time and experience.

The point of my post is this: Your post is dead on. Burke will struggle this year, we will suck, we will end up with Wiggins or Parker, and will sign a vet pg in the offseason. BUT that doesn't mean Burke sucks, or that he isn't the pg of the future or anything like that. It just means he is a young player on a bad team that needs TIME to adjust to the NBA game. He will be a very good starter for us in 2-3 years.

Yeah, it's a moving screen, but KG does it all the time and it's cool.

I wonder how Trey Burke found that tweet? Trey's handle wasn't attached and there so no "hashtag". The guy who wrote it only has 13 followers. Hmm.........

You just twitter search your name. It just has to be in the message, not in the hashtag.

You have must have never heard of a guy called Honz.

First, I'm sure a lot of young athletes twitter search their name. It's not a big deal, or even uncommon (I would think). The weird thing is that he retweeted it so everyone knows that he is just sitting on his phone reading what people are saying about him.

Also, on the subject of twitter, anyone else find it funny Derrick Favors follows porn star Lisa Ann?

Not my mentality. I could care less if I'm right or wrong. I just want to see the Jazz do the best that they can. If I miss and the Jazz win then i'm happy. If I'm right and the Jazz lose then I'm sad.

After his first disappointing game Sydney Lowe, assistant head coach nervously said while sweating profusely and clutching his rosary, "He's serious about getting better, and he's going to get better." He then threw salt over his left shoulder and screamed at the team ordering them that if a single soul stepped on a crack in the sidewalk it would be their last. The Summer League Jazz team then ran laps around leprechauns, 4-leaf clovers, and unicorns.

Cut to a couple days later when Trey Burke struggled again in his second Summer League outing Lowe could be heard muttering to himself, "There's no need to be worrying about Trey Burke right now," as he clicked his heels in his Red Ruby Slippers holding a lucky rabbit's foot. Relatedly, the team had three extra players on the roster who attended the second game who had good performances but they lacked heart, courage, and brains to make it in the NBA.

What the hell is going on?

I wasn't on the Burke bandwagon to begin with. I like the kid a lot but I also had my reservations. However, I am not going to judge him on summer league or some tweets. I don't think he is a savior either. Some fans got all hyped because they didn't think he would be available and because of his wonderful tournament performance. So he was a little over hyped. I agree many Jazz fans take what players say or do too personally. I never get the booing before they play or when a player leaves they get booed. You wonder why some players don't like coming here and why the media thinks Jazz fans are mean. Unless some player rags on the city and organization, I don't see a reason for booing them. When Millsap comes back, I won't be surprised if he gets booed. I won't understand it but I won't be surprised.

I guess some people just love hate'n other people or they love worrying about how a player leaving or negatively commenting on the state affects the national perception of the Jazz and Utah. For those who boo, do you think that behavior helps the perception? Burke is 20 years old and has never even lived in the city so give him a chance and welcome him with open arms and support him when plays even if he plays badly. In the end we want him to be successful.
