What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

And a first rounder in 2019 and I'd do it if there was nothing else better... not sure what we do with both Looney and Lyles, but I think Looney may end up out for the year with a hip surgery soon.

He's an asset, could be dealt down the line or could turn out better than Lyles for example. Take him, recover him from his injury and let him battle it out with Lyles.

I could see the Knicks moving Porzingis for a deal that includes Nene, another player, and a future 1st-rd pick. That's not terrible for a team that wants to win now.

Possibly. Unfortunately there is nothing else to go on. All we have is assumption and speculation. Personally it fells right to say the Jazz FO is actively looking at something.

Might only be trying to make myself feel better though.
I remember right after the draft pkm said that the jazz were trying to pull off a major deal but that it could take a while to get it done

In his interview with 1280 today, DL dropped a little nugget when he said he received a call that he didn't expect to get.

Something better happen trade-wise if they've got the Lyles contract in limbo causing him to fall behind. He needs to be on the court to learn but this is on DL and not Lyles or his agent.

If you were Lyles would you risk an injury before your contract was resolved. I wouldn't.

Definitely not condoning it, just saying there's precedent. I'd imagine when that sorta stuff happens there's an agreement beforehand on the contract in case of injury.

Like the Jaguars rookie DE Dante Fowler, Jr, who tore his ACL in the first practice. Days before signing his rookie contract at max slot value.

I'm so not worried about lyles missing a little summer league action. SL really isn't that big of a deal.

Isn't the NBA different though because of draft and stash players? The NFL doesn't have that. If Saric gets injured for instance the 76ers aren't required to sign him. They simply have the right to. You could be right but I don't think so.

I think whatever is it... It has to do with either Phx or Spurs. What else would be holding it up? Just waiting for LA to decide where he wants to go. Knicks might get desperate but I think La is holding it up. Ps love Jordan going to Dallas! Hope Clippers reach out to the Jazz about a Favors/burks/lyles/Booker trade for Griffin/Crawford or jj

can the jazz trade Lyles if he is unsigned? Like right away

Yes... the other scenario is maybe they agreed to a sign and trade for Harris... that one seems like a real long shot and I am not sure what would be holding that up.

There is zero chance they are holding out Lyles on a "maybe something comes up" scenario. There is at least a decent chance something is in the works or it wouldn't be worth holding him out over $350k.

Jazz are luckythere are two other first round picks playing or this would have really killed Summer League.
