Don't need an Allstar pg. Hayward, Favors, and Kanter all have a chance to be just that, just need a solid pg. Burke will be that. Burke will make the c4 better. If Burke and the c4 can grow together this will be a dangerous team. Burke is just the leader the c4 need, and the 4 and the two rookies coming in next year are the young talent Burke needs to thrive.

I'm not worried about the so called immature tweeting, as guys like Kobe, and other well established stars send out immature tweets all the time even head coaches. These tweets come from everyone not just Burke.

This. As soon as we get hints that he's reached his ceiling and we can get something better pull the trigger. But as long as there are any signs that he can still improve I say roll with him, same with keeping our 3 bigs in the lineup. You need to try trading him when his 'stock' is the highest.

Careful what you wish you for by trading Burke, you don't want to jump the gun here. It's better to wash a couple dishes after every meal than waiting for all them dirty dishes to pile up and having to clean all the dry **** that sticks to them.

What does that mean in relation to Burke?

AS for reaching his ceiling, I'd argue his trade value might be at a peak right now. He's not going to grow a few inches or suddenly develop blazing speed. His shooting has not improved at all. At least he has a couple of years left on his contract. Another team gets a cheap test drive and has his rights. Story by DL is that Dante is pushing for more playing time and even though we LOVE Trey, we simply have to move him because we can't continue to give our rookie phenom 15 mins/per.

I'm not sure what we are expecting to get from trading Burke. A lotto pick? A late first rounder? A second rounder?

I don't think anyone would take Trey unless we are willing to take on a bad contract/bad personality.

If his value doesn't increase over that by the end of the season they're better off keeping him as a reserve. You don't take back crap for a player you can just cut ties with. Also, if it comes to that point, I'd be in favor of them sending him to Reno and letting him work his way back onto the rosterand a reserve.

I'm going to be optimistic and assume that the Jazz FO is not stupid.

So the only reason that we are still starting Burke and playing him big minutes must be because we want to increase his trade value before the all-star break. It is not because Exum is not ready to start, as some claim. If Exum were to start the only thing that would happen is that he would assume less PG roles and a lot of those responsibilities would be passed to Hayward or Burks. Exum's defense would be greater than Burke's in one on one situations and at least on par in other defensive situations. So we would simply be better off in terms of winning games (but we probably still need to tank).

The question now becomes would could we even get for Burke? I don't think we could get much...

I'd trade him for a second rounder
I wouldn't. I'd rather play him off the bench before going that route. While he has struggled greatly as a starter, I could see him thriving in a limited role as a reserve.

Plus, benching him seems like something that could be a wakeup call and get him to focus on fixing his deficiencies.

Don't think of equal value. Think of a team wanting to dump a higher-priced veteran, just as Philly did with all of theirs. Jazz have cap space and could easily free up more by including players like Booker or Evans. We'll also have a high 2nd-rounder, which has some decent value.

Oui oui.

Or, they don't want to admit or believe they were wrong in selecting Burke. They paid a hefty price tag for him. They probably don't want to bail in their investment, so they keep playing him in hopes that he'll improve.

They already covered themselves by saying Burke was the player Corbin liked. Not sure MCW or McCollum would have been a better choice and those were the players selected immediately after. Jazz were in a difficult position because they HAD to get a PG. Utah had no one else on the roster. Also got Gobert, who is showing he has early-lottery value. So that makes up for missing on Trey.

really dont think Burke's trade value is very high at the moment.

but he could improve alot like hayward did. He just lacks a lot right now.

would help if he could shoot.

It's funny how Trey Burke has always talked a big game since getting here, about how he's a leader, etc..

Sounded like he thought he was gonna be a top guard in the NBA.

Now we will trade him for a bag of peanuts.

Hayward always had the tools. He was never too short or too slow. He also shot 49%/47% as a rookie. He was a bit of a tweener and I think adding enough bulk to be a SF is a huge step up as he can now use his speed at the SF spot as a real advantage rather than trying to beat smaller SG's.

As for Burke, I don't think he has a ton of value on his own. We aren't going to trade him and get a stud PF, for example. But he could be a good chip in a trade. I'd offer Trey, and whatever pick we have (#5-7) + our 2nd rounder or the GS 2017 first-rounder (lottery protected) to move up into the top-3.
