Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

trump is desperate to get this bill passed while Biden is still president because he knows the bill sucks and will increase spending and then when trump causes the debt to explode, as expected/and predicted, he will try to blame it on Biden.
But he can't get the Republican controlled house to pass it. Can't even get close to a majority even though the Republicans are the majority in the house lol. Democrats fault!
Everything's going to be so ****ed up in 4 years.

Nothing would make me happier than Republicans shutting down the government right now. Lol. Hard to make America great again when your own party can’t keep the government open. I truly hope those ruralists who saw their homes destroyed in hurricanes and farm bros sucking off the government’s teet weren’t relying on any government help anytime soon!

Thoughts and prayers

Pointing out the obvious here, but the Democrats have the Presidency and the Senate. 99% of Democrats in the House voted to shut the government down. It is a crazy reach to believe the Republicans are the problem.

For anyone who is confused, I well help explain. President Biden and the Senate didn't have any votes on this bill. Only the Republican controlled house voted on this bill.
There actually was a bill with bipartisan support that would have kept the government open. Elon Musk realized he might not be able to get his tax breaks that he paid for with that bill though so he killed it.

Good post but you made one typo. I fixed it for you.

I love how President Musk is everything the right has accused George soros of being.

Nothing is owning college educated liberal elites living in blue bastions of our country, like Lehi, Utah, more than “working class slobs” losing their government handouts and farm subsidies for the next few months while billionaires have more power and say than ever. I have been so owned. The working class has like totally owned the rich billionaires and college educated elites. Totally

Your "explaining" consists of making stuff up. The Continuing Resolution (CR) had no provisions at all related to taxation.

The bill had bipartisan support because Speaker Mike Johnson gave away some really awful concessions to get democrats onboard, and yes one of those concessions directly impacted Elon Musk but it wasn't anything having to do with taxes. The give away that I think is the worst were protections from prosecution for democrat congressmen Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff. We already know they broke the law but Biden's DOJ is looking the other way on it. Nobody should be above the law.

As for the concession in the CR impacting Musk, that would be the funding for the Global Engagement Center, which is a government agency whose purpose is to facilitate censorship. As the owner of X/Twitter, Elon Musk is their #1 enemy. If you're looking for Musk's angle, killing off this agency would be it.

As for who is responsible for killing the CR, Red already posted the vote tally. Of the 198 democrats voting in the House on this one, all but 2 voted to shut down the government.

There is a revised version of the CR that strips out some of the awful concessions, but it too didn't have enough support to overcome the democrat's united effort to shut the government down. Now democrats are saying that if allowed to vote again on the old version they rejected yesterday that they'll support it now.

A billionaire donor calling the shots in Washington. He actually imagines his $$ investment in Trump allows him to call the shots.

I was just happy to see at least a few republicans willing to actually do the right thing instead of slobbing the cult knob over all this. We desperately need some politicians with actual morals and ideals. IMO, we are at a historically low point for politics in this country. I console myself by at least acknowledging that it could be worse, it could be North Korea or some of the 3rd world countries or Venezuela or name any other tyrannical state. But then I remember, this is often how this kind of **** starts. Let's hope enough of our politicians find their sense of morality and right and wrong and their balls soon enough to avoid catastrophe. Too bad we lost Romney, we need a voice like his on the conservative side.

As long as it is open and brash and in your face they convince themselves that they are just doing what is needed to drain the swamp. It is textbook mass delusion. Mind-boggling to see it happening in real time. One person in my wife's family who is a die-hard republican, in the worst way, was also talking about hating Musk. But all of a sudden she loves him and thinks he is the best thing that ever happened to the country. Unbelievable how far we will fall to keep our status quo.

Removing the debt ceiling is how musk plans to get his tax breaks that he paid for. We know that the trump admin isn't going to curb spending so removing the debt ceiling is the way to fit in the tax breaks for the 1%.

What are you talking about? Romney historically votes against these types of bills. His voting history is exactly what happened that you are upset with.

"I promised the people of Utah I would vote against these kinds of last-minute, short-term spending bills."
--Mitt Romney

Because tax rates are reverse pegged to national debt so that higher national debt equals lower taxes. Is that how you think things work?

It’s absurd to think the Republicans are not the problem. Pretty sure Trump and Musk are not Democrats. Now Trump, angered at the President Musk comments, is angrily claiming that he is the one who destroyed the bipartisan House budget that would have been passed. Were it not for Musk. Trump is pissed that he’s not getting all the credit for destroying the bipartisan agreement.

And Musk? Well, he’s just fine with screwing millions of Americans. What does he care? Yeah, the Democrats killed the deal. How dishonest are you willing to go?

Trump and Musk are not in office. The democrats in the House killed this bill. The hilarious part is that now the democrats have asked to put the exact same 1,500+ page "bipartisan" bill they voted against up for vote again. The democrats have said they've changed their mind and now want the 1,500+ page "bipartisan" bill they killed. Maybe the democrats should have not been so stupid when they had the chance to vote in support of the 1,500+ page "bipartisan" bill. It was on the table. It was put up for a vote. Only two democrats voted in favor of the 1,500+ page "bipartisan" bill. Spare me your spin on how the overwhelming number of Republicans voting in favor of the 1,500+ page "bipartisan" bill being unable to overcome the unified effort of democrats to kill the bill means the failure to pass is the fault of the Republicans. If you want the government to stay open, maybe ask for more than two democrats to vote that way.
