TURKEY-SERBIA : The last chance

Kanter missed two shots he had absolutely no business missing: A wide open layup and that two-handed jam he aborted. He was a little iffier on D this game, but no doubt he is a difference maker on the court that defenses must take into account (he drew 5 fouls in 17 minutes...nothing new). His problems seem to stem from a lack of experience, more than anything, as he really showed that he can compete physically with some legitimate pro players. Hopefully he works hard enough to warrant 15 minutes per game his rookie season. We'll see.

Edit: There were two atrocious calls against him in this game: A traveling call, that rendered a nice move to the basket that likely would have ended in a bucket or a foul moot, and a loose ball foul on an offensive board he grabbed cleanly (I'm not sure there was any contact at all).

The commentators criticized NBA players so much. One of them told, the nba players were so passive, and other told like Enes is just new in nba, the he told , no dont count Enes, he is just newbie, but still he was the best player here today but what about the others? They evade the ball, Ersan , Hedo they dont take responsiblity and they return back smiling, those behaviours under national team uniform bother me a lot.
Did they criticize the god awful horrid Turkish "coaching" staff?

On last game tonight LT beats Germany - 84-75, JV - 15pts (6-10FG,3-4FT ), 4reb, 2blk in 18 min of playing time. So tomorrow Russia plays Macedonia and winner of that game will face Serbia in 1/4 finals and loser will play Lithuania. France will play Greece and Spain winner of game between Slovenia-Finland.

russia might rest their players tomorrow.and i think they rather face lithaina than serbia(they allways have a bad record against serbia).russia-lithuania would be a great game :)

yes, good analysis, i agree

Not really, maybe because he was their teammate before, or they are too gentle for that, or he is a rookie coach , so they didnt blame all it on him but coach already claimed, i have the biggest responsiblity in our failure

Absolutely agree. Jazz fans are going to have to be patient. We'll likely see plenty of signs of promise from him, but there will be times when he looks just like Big Al. Right now, aside from some occasional energy on the boards, it seems like he doesn't really know how to help his team offensively other than setting up on the left block, getting the pass, dribbling 4-5 times while trying to back his man down and hope something comes of it. He's nowhere near as polished as Big Al with his moves right now, nor as quick, though he uses his strength to better advantage. If the Jazz just throw him out into games without really expecting him to learn team play and learn to be effective from a variety of spots on the floor, I see Big Al Part II (as a half-court offensive threat -- he may have more potential in other areas).

Another reason to hope the lockout somehow ends soon and we end up with a good training camp and preseason: I hope Corbin plays Al and Kanter together some in the preseason. It may be a fiasco on defense at first, and they may be fighting each other for position on the left low block, but they both need to learn to make themselves useful even if they aren't the only low post scoring threat.

If that happens, then fire Corbin and his entire staff.

I think the best we can get out of Big Al from now on is , trade him and get some good pieces in return, he wont be helping the team in the long term

lol and why wont he help the team in the long term?

Wasn't able to see the past two games, but it appears I didn't miss much. I'm going to safely assume there is no way in hell Turkey advances to the next round. Any chance Lithuania advances? I saw Jonas had a pretty good game against Germany today.

Just saw the replay of the last game. Kanter played well except for the FT shooting, which is mostly mental I will assume. He continues to be unguardable in the post, and always gets within 2' of the basket and never settles for anything less - unlike another big on our team. Two of the times Kanter did miss close was from the veteran pull the chair out trick, a true desperation move by a defender. The only real negatives were the botched dunk early on, and the turnover pass in the lane late in the 4th. Overall Kanter played a great tournament, well above my expectations.

Turkey is out, LT plays loser of Russia-Macedonia in 1/4 finals.

Lithuania is the luckiest team that they are gonna play against inexperienced Macedonia instead of russia thanks to that last sec 3 pointer

You never know... Macedonia actually looks like legit team, beat Greece, beat Slovenia, beat Croatia. Of course I think for LT it is better then Russia.. although it looks like Russia is running out of gas a bit in their last few games, was not impressed at all how they played vs Macedonia., very sloppy.. Look at AK, 2pts only on 1-9 shooting?
