Turkish Interview Enes Kanter

But, he was talking like AL will not play for us next season ? Did he not know that AL will re-sign ?

Nothing specific about it. But I got the feeling that he is getting ready to play more minutes next year.
He also said he is very quickly recovering. He expects to be 100% healthy in mid July

PS: He has such a high IQ, man. This is pretty obvious from the way he speaks. Such rare thing among athletes especially monstrous ones

When you immerse yourself in a foreign language and speak nothing but that language for years, yes, your conversational skills in your native language do decrease. I spent 1 1/2 years speaking nothing but Portuguese.

You lucky u did not stay there one more year then you would forget how to pronounce your name. Kanter has been living in USA for 4 years and Okur's been living for 11 years. Guess what? Okur's Turkish does not have accent unlike Kanter. So what?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I always though he was born in Switzerland and grew up there as well? I think if he was not in Turkey when he was a kid it made huge influence to his language skills.

Kanter was born in Zurich when his dad was mastering there but they came back when Kanter was 2 years old. So he grew up in Turkey till to come to USA.

mastering like 31?

It's really funny when someone pronounce his name with English accent. I never did that but have seen some. In this case "Kyentır".

I tried to translate this but have to say my english isn't perfect :D The main things he said are:

- Everything after the surgery went well and he finished the first part of the rehab-program in Chicago already a few weeks ago

- On June 2nd he will continue to work in Chicago for 6 weeks and complete the second part of the rehab-program (Originall interview was made at 30th of May but you can clearly hear that now he speaks turkish with accent and had trouble to find the right words)

- He always continues to get better and he is never satisfied with his skills

- He knows he played limited minutes so far but thats the part of the business when players like Big Al and Millsap are in the roster

- His favorite in the finals are the Miami Heat

- Howard and Dirk were the player who were the biggest challenge for him so far (Howard ok, but Dirk?He played rarely against Dirk. I mean Favors did a lot :D)

Hope i could help you

He was always like that. He is a **** Turkish speaker but actually he got better it appears.

Kanter was raised in a school and environment I am guessing owned by Fethullah Gülen, the religious leader dwelling in Pennsylvania and has the major power in Turkish bureaucracy with his community called Nur Cemaati. So he looks like he is throwing the adolescence issues and porn stars aside and finding himself in conservatism, tweeting things about religious messages and all that. He do that, he's gonna have a Muslim friend group in the NBA. If only the Hakeem and Shaq legend was still balling.

~ Oh I forgot to add. The activists in Turkey hate the effects and actions coming from this Gülen guy and his community. He is seen like the Humeyni of Turkey that is waiting for his day to come back and kick the regime's ***. He is a closed tight box for many, but he is also a sweet looking evil thinking guy.

Okur had his family living with him so he could use his language at home.

There used to be this video of a Turkish interview from like 5 or 6 years ago on youtube when Enes Kanter was like 14 years old. I wanted to look for it to find it but I searched for like 10 minutes and no luck.

Okur has a wife and kids and likely speaks only Turkish at home. Kanter probably doesn't have many Turkish friends and rarely speaks the language in the U.S. At least, that's my guess.

Yea may be, and then i wonder in which language he talks to his brother Kerem Kanter for the last 3 years in USA?
