Twitter feeds leading up to the draft

I'm not sure how to take this:

I like it. We have the young core, let the old dudes expire, sign a big name FA, extend Millsap.

I think KOC is going to be on the lookout for a team desperate to move a pick (Houston) and might try to swoop in and do a deal based on prior talks.

I'm not sure how to take this:

I like it a lot as well. This draft has a lot of potential, but a TON of question marks. Other than #1 (and I would debate the hype he is getting), every single player has big time bust/star potential. There is a chance that Beal isn't any better than Burks.

I think KOC is seeing that Lamb is falling down draft boards because of his injured ankle, and he plans on swooping in and getting him in the 12-15 range. If that happens we are now set at 4 out of 5 positions with the possibility of moving Al for a pg.

Picks are so over valued. That's why most deals never get done. I mean 6 and 11 are nice and all, but what exactly does Portland want? If they don't think millsap is worth one then they are bananas.

They need a PG and a Center. Both very gettable with 6 and 11.

See them taking Lillard, Rivers, or Drummond with the 6th pick. If they take Drummond, they will take a guard with 11th.

I think this is KOC saying, "We've made our offers and aren't budging from here." I'm sure there are at least a few potential deals on the table, but no one will know until the draft actually plays out.

This is what he actually said:

Jody Genessy ‏@DJJazzyJody
O'Connor—"Our attitude is to continue to explore all opportunities to improve the team but not to make decisions based on short-term gains."

I'll give it 20% chance we somehow get a pick in the 1st round.

Repped.

This was the point I was trying to make in my ?'s thread when PKM switched to PMS.

Why would any sane person take MKG over Millsap?

Millsap averages 18 and 10. MKG will most likely never do that. Millsap shoots over 50%. MKG will most likely never do this unless he is paired with a Deron-type (ala Brewer). Millsap is a lead leader in steals. There is a good chance MKG is never a league leader in steals. Millsap is clutch, a warrior, gets better every year, etc. Everything everyone HOPES MKG can become, Millsap already is.

For any GM to take MKG or Robinson (whose ceiling is David West!?!) is insane. There are mock's saying that Robinson will go #2. That tells you right there Millsap is worth the #2 pick.

For Portland to draft Lilliard, who may become good, or may be one of the worst wing players in the draft (according to Hollinger) when they could have Millsap is crazy. For Charlotte to take Robinson, who they hope can become Millsap, over Millsap, is insane.

We all get a little to caught up in speculation, instead of taking the sure route (see our economy and the housing bust). The more I think about this, and really weigh what we are actually talking about here, the more I am glad KOC runs this team.

^^^ I am so laughing at you, green. I am not pushing MKG, never have .. but I called you out on your recklessness of facts. I think you hate acronyms ..

I'm done, promise, go about your hate.

When did lillard become a wing?

i'd take what KOC says and what olshey says with two big grains of salt. there's not a lot of motivation to show your hand with less than 24 hours to go. and the value calculation and offers are very different today than they will be at tomorrow evening 7 p.m. EDT. lots of stuff could still happen.

if i step back from that, though, and consider the broader strokes in KOC's message, there seems to be a big vote of confidence there for the current version of the jazz, which is built around al jefferson. THAT'S the portion i don't like; i'm so ready to move on from al that it's not even funny.

I hate the anon stuff. Someone neg'd me on a completely inoccuous post with no reason given. Cowardly, at best.

Hehe.

The really funny part about this is seeing who the stupid people are that don't realize Jason is going to change it back in a few days, at which point, the chicken poops will be revealed for their true colors.

Needless to say, I will be unleashing my wrath ten-fold upon those who choose to suckerpunch-and-run.

Boowaaahaaahaahaa!!!

<laughs obnoxiously in an evil manner>

btw, charlotte made similar remarks about #2... and other gms will do the same, either publicly or on the phone with their peers from around the league. at this point, the message you want to send people is "don't call with a crap offer" because you never know what 2 or 6 or 11 will turn into. as the draft progresses tomorrow, somebody somewhere will relax their criteria for what it would take to move a pick.

Very well said.

Weber State's Damian Lillard has been slotted near the top of the lottery by the Jazz. Long scouted by Utah, the highly athletic Wildcat is expected to be taken in the top 10, and could go as high as No. 6 to Portland. But if he’s around at eight (Toronto) or 10 (New Orleans)? That’s when the Jazz could strike.

Sources say Baylor's Perry Jones is in Houston for a second visit with the Rockets that was scheduled today. He's in play for their picks (12, 16 and 18) and Houston is smart to operate as if he may become their player if they took him, but source says Orlando also likes Jones and he could become part of a Dwight Howard proposal eventually. Houston has been trying to get into the top 10, but rival execs are of understanding that the Kings aren't biting on bids for the No. 5 pick.

John Hollinger ‏@johnhollinger
Based on Donte Greene's Twitter, it appears Kings decided not to make him a qualifying offer.

From @DraftExpress https://bit.ly/OtoA84 Andre Drummond is worst back to basket scorer (.58 pts per possession) of the bigs

The Hoops Report ‏@TheHoopsReport
Blazers like Waiters, Lillard & Drummond. They're hoping 1 of them will fall to 11, but they don't know who's most likely to.

The Hoops Report ‏@TheHoopsReport
Now, rumors are swirling that Portland could be the team that promised Dion Waiters. If that's the case, was the promise 6 or 11? Craziness.

The Hoops Report ‏@TheHoopsReport
If it's true, it wouldn't be the first time Portland is involved in talks of promising a player. Blazers could definitely use a PG.

After reading @DraftExpress Synergy breakdown - Need to know what do Moe Harkless and Royce White do well?

Chad Ford ‏@chadfordinsider
Could the Thunder move up and draft Bradley Beal? Beal thinks so

Henry Abbott ‏@TrueHoop
Bradley Beal says Jeff Taylor played toughest D on him and will make a good pro: "Very strong. He has the body for it. He can guard 1-5."

Jonathan Givony ‏@DraftExpress
Warriors could likely snag Tyler Zeller & Moe Harkless at 12 & 16, two guys they like, while the Rockets would likely go for Drummond at 7.

Jonathan Givony ‏@DraftExpress
After this latest Milwaukee/Houston move, I could see Golden State being more enticed to trade the #7 pick to Houston for #12 and #16.

Chad Ford ‏@chadfordinsider
Rockets plan on keeping Livingston, Leuer & Brockman despite fact they could save $4.7 million if they waived Livingston & Leuer

David Locke ‏@Lockedonsports
Liking both the Terrences - PF Terrence Jones has nice 1 on 1 face up game for 4 - SF Terrence Ross very good shooter and good at rim

David Locke ‏@Lockedonsports
Should it be concerning that Kidd-Gilchrist ranked last of wings in point per shot on jumpers by a ton?

David Locke ‏@Lockedonsports
Should it be concerning at all the Kidd-Gilchrist had 25% of his possessions in transition?

Probasketballdraft ‏@Probballdraft
If the Dwight Howard deal cannot be executed by tomorrow I am told that Houston could shift its focus to Rudy Gay.

David Locke ‏@Lockedonsports
Point Guard #'s from @DraftExpress Synergy - Kendall Marshall makes 34% of jumpers, Tony Wroten 18% on jumpers
