Ty Corbin, Coach of the Year?

Man if Ty won it his first full year that would be cool but also show that the award itself is a joke.
They need to rename the award the "Pleasant Surprise Team of the Year" Media Feelgood Story Award because is doesn't go to the coach who does the best coaching job.

The powers that be wont let a Jazz coach win COY, its proven. He is doing well however, better than I thought he would. Good job.

I'm leaning towards thinking this is sarcasm. If not, yes, right now Ty>70+year old Sloan. The man was tired. I can't blame him.

I'm very happy with Ty right now. The way he intereacts with players during the game. The emotion and energy he has on the side lines. The attitude of his team. Hes kicking some serious *** right now and it's fun to see.

Now give me a 3-4 game losing streak and we'll see how I feel then.

This is the Jazz team I expected this year, when I posted my record prediction to be 10 games over .500
Ty is definitely kicking ***, and I think Jeff Hornacek and Raja Bell have a lot to do with the attitude change as well.
They're both serious competitors, and would most likely not take anything less than this team giving their best.
The biggest part of this team doing so well, would be the fact that the whole team is buying into Ty's system of course.

Our record is better than many predicted, but too many close games were mis-handled, IMO.

Corbin won't be > than Sloan until he has gone to the finals twice, and the western conference several times with different teams. However, that doesn't mean that Corbin can't.

As I look at it now, Sloan was really past his prime. His defense was from 15 years ago when the league had loads of dominant shot blocking centers, guards could be bodied up outside the 3 point line, and speaking of threes, only a few players could shoot the three at regularity. These are things he never changed his attitude on, and the league has changed, with athletic smaller centers, no touching the guards, and about two thirds of the players can at least hit a 3 in a pinch. Corbin has made these adjustments, he's forcing baseline instead of trying to force to his center, he's switching much better to defend the outside shot, and he said that he will use his 2's and 3's more than before (though I haven't seen this yet, but Ty also said he was not done introducing the offence yet)

If the Jazz make the playoffs, I can easily see Ty contending for coach of the year, though comparing him to last year isn't fair at all.

That is if you are comparing them on a career basis, but if you compare Sloan's last year (er... half year) to Corbin's first year, Corbin wins.

Watching Pop exploit matchups is amazing. Watching the Spurs' tallest player be 6-7, and Corbin not call one post play is pathetic. Watching Millsap being guarded by Leonard, Jefferson by Duncan and calling plays for Jefferson is sad. Watching the Spurs clear out the lane for Hayward and then Hayward stands there until Jefferson brings the whole team in the lane is heartbreaking. Starting Howard over Carrol is crazy.

Morale of the story? Corbin is an awful coach.

Knowing Al, Millsap and Favors is effective because you did it last year yet waiting until the last two weeks of the next season to go back to it.

how demoralizing is it for players. when you get your team in the playoff yet whiners and people who havent done **** to get you in the playoff get to satrt and play in ther playoff

why wait till halfway through the 3rd to ry the best lineup when your down 13
