This notion that there are no black people in SLC is simply untrue.

I was at a KFC in downtown slc one time and I saw a black guy........ Sure there is a good chance that he was a member of the utah jazz, but still.

Dead serious. St. George is a "Footloose" town.

On 10/24/14 a local kids game place called "Fiesta Fun" threw a halloween party. They have bumper boats, go carts, an arcade, miniture golf and they added food, music and dancing.

The cops showed up and told them that since they did not have a dancing permit that if dancing happened they would be forced to shut down the event. Then 2-3 cops stayed behind to make sure no one danced. The police chief showed up a short will later and posted a sign warning against dancing.

I've never seen anything to suggest that the LDS Church disapproves of dancing. Hell, during my youth, the stake or regional dance was the highlight of the Mormon youth's week.

I'm guessing that this ordinance has more to do with what large dancing events bring in their wake--lots of drinking, noise, rowdiness, and (shudder) fornication--and is not really about dancing at all.

I'm guessing that this ordinance has more to do with what large dancing events bring in their wake--lots of drinking, noise, rowdiness, and (shudder) fornication--and is not really about dancing at all.

Doesn't matter what it was about. It was a controlled event by a well known public business. That this ordinance exists at all is absolute crap.

Never blamed the church though. It is 2-3 guys on the city council more than likely.

St. George should, no, NEEDS to remain dance free.

Add in a dance and this party now lasts into the early morning hours. The organizers didn't just suddenly move the festival to St. George. They had plenty of time to get the necessary permits. I'll bet if we dug deeper we might find the city requires party organizers to pay extra for - or provide their own security after a certain hour and there are likely neighborhood noise ordinances that have to be looked out and/or additional documents to be signed stipulating maximum volume, etc.

It was shut down over a dancing permit. It is not in a residential neighborhood or even close to one so noise isn't a problem. Also their were staff from Fiesta Fun and event organizers there.
