What's new

Tyler Hansbrough

He's been good all season -- earlier on there was some ridiculous stat where, in games where he played at least 25 minutes a game, he was averaging 20 and 9. But lately he's coming alive. The thing about this guy is, he's just a dangerous maniac. He races into crowds so often half the time I have no idea what's happening. It's just like: there's Hansbrough. Now I'm not sure where he is but there's a lot of arms and legs flying around. Oh, the ball just went in. The announcers are saying Hansbrough scored a layup off the offensive rebound.

If this guy stays healthy in this league, he's going to have a heck of a career. He's not an all-star type player, but he's old school. A warrior. Reckless.

I like him.

That's a problematic stat because one could easily argue he only got 25+ minutes a game when he was playing well. Not clear whether time dictated performance or if performance dictated time.

Just saying it's one of those stats that probably sounds more instructive than it is.

For the first half of the season, performance did not dictate time on the Pacers for any player. I see what you mean, but in this case, Hansbrough has been extremely productive whenever he's been given minutes. His per 36 minute stat line on the season is 18 points and 9 rebounds.

Pretty respectable.

Tell me how you really feel about Jim O'Brien.

Given that he's basically a rookie there's reason to be optimistic.

It's not about my feelings. This guy had Hansbrough on the bench so he could play Posey big minutes at power forward. It was crazy. But I mean: what I said is a fact. There was no relationship between player performance and minutes played on the Pacers under Jim O'Brien. That's why he was fired.

Given that he's basically a rookie there's reason to be optimistic.

Don't get me wrong, he's a garbage man type player. He's not the type of player who can command an offense or take control of a game. But I like him as a garbage man. He's a wildcard and he is a tough, tenacious bugger.
