Udunka bout to get some-Today 1:00 PM

what i like about Bane is his potential to be a three level shooter(catch and shoot, shoot off the bounce, shoot off the dribble), which brings the much needed variety to this current Jazz 3pt oriented offense

We have way too many spot shooters that are only effective when they are shooting from a static positions, which makes it easy for the opponents to set up counter schemes.

yeah, we can try multiple drive and kicks until we find the open man but it's not like Royce/Bojan/Niang are that good of dribble&drive threat to begin with. More often than not their driving to the basket have led to ugly turnovers because i'm sure it is on every opponent's scouting report to let them put the ball on the floor.

Imagine how much more unstoppable we can be if we add a dynamic shooter who is much more comfortable at dribble&drive and can launch shots from anywhere at anytime to our offense.

And if there was a non-shooting center I really liked in the draft I would take one... but not if I already had an All-star who is a non-shooting center... and not if I planned to allocate my MLE to another non-shooting center.

We drafted a third string QB and we got Aaron Rogers on the roster and issues at the skill positions in the next few years. Not a great use of an asset imo.
Unlike QBs, centers take a while to develop. This is Gobert's 8th season. By the time we know what Azuibuke's potential is, Favor's contract will be over, and he will be 33(?).

yeah, we definitely gave up on Bradley too soon because centers take a long time to develop. Should have resigned him to a max deal because we don't wanna miss out on the next Embiid.

So, you have about the same level of knowledge on the ceilings of Bradley and Azubuike? What is Azubuike's ceiling?

Ummm QBs take more time to develop than Centers. Most good centers drafted in the first round were at least at the level that they could be functional backups by time their rookie season ended. If it were true your best value would be to grab centers on their second deal since it takes them so long to develop. The biggest benefit to using a first is to get good or possibly great production on the cheap. If you are drafting a guy to be your backup in year 4 you are doing it wrong.

Tony Bradley was a shooting center. Gobert is our non-shooting center.
Lol... really? What about Bradley in college or the pros says he is going to be a good shooter.

Tony was the classic big that was productive in small samples in college and analytics said because he was productive and young he will be a stud. It ignored that he had no differentiating factors about his game at all... not a shooter, not a rim protector, not a passer, he can be big and rebound good... that’s someone you can get off the scrap heap at the minimum.

Udoka has raw physical talent and size that is unmatched
Jazz will need another backup center sooner than later the way Favors is tracking

yep, like Richaun Holmes to Sacramento which quickly turned into a bargain. The opposite of that would be Jermaine O'neal when he was in Portland, and he was ten times the talent that Udoka is.

And don’t get me wrong... I’m happy we have Favs. It doesn’t hurt us this year capwise really... it’s when we have to make cuts in other areas that the Favs contract starts to gum things up... it’s where it’s be nice to have invested a first in a wing or guard so you can replace something expensive with something cheap.

Has there been any update on the severity of his injury? Has he had surgery? What is the recovery timeline?

Does anyone really believe Udoka was the #2 guy on their entire draft board? I mean I guess it’s plausible, I can’t think of any other reason why the jazz would draft him in the first round.
I think they said in purely analytics terms, he graded out at #2. But I think Lindsey said that he graded out as top 10 on a lot of their boards overall.

I don’t know how someone could even have him top ten. Look at the top ten guys... add in Halliburton, Vassell, Maxey Saddiq Bey... which 5 or so guys are you putting him ahead of and how ****ing stupid do you feel doing it right now?

Hughes was not the second coming today. He was in double figures tonight but took a lot of shots to get there as the Stars got pasted. He had a huge minus number next to his name in the box score. He looks to be on a minutes restriction.

Stars won today by 20 and Hughes had a DNP. I suspect it was because of the quick turnaround between games. Tyler Bey, Malcolm Miller and Trevon Bluiett were the leading scorers for the Stars with 17, 16 and 16 points respectively. The Jazz are in Orlando tomorrow and I wonder if they will leave some players behind like Forrest, Brantley, Morgan and Oni to play some games.

Someone is going to have to explain to me how the lowest-skilled position is somehow the one that takes the most time to develop. Using real data as well, if possible.
