It amazes me how poorly "improv comics" translate into movies and tv. Every decent standup guy usually gets a movie (if they don't die), but the improv guys don't do ****, unless they transition into stand up.
Stiffler. Seriously badass beer crackin' like it aint nothin in every role pimped. Evolution and The Rundown were Stiff.
Yeah, that's the thing. You can always say someone was "miscast." Reeves certainly was in Dangerous Liasons. I mean, he was trying to portray French aristocracy, and yet he still had that terrible SoCal surfer accent. But at the same time, good actors act... they adapt themselves to the role. But Reeves... not so much. Limited range, indeed.
I suppose I'll add in Glenn Close, just because I find it shocking that she hasn't won an Oscar yet. Especially for Dangerous Liasons... Jodie Foster stole that one from her. Actually, Glenn Close in Dangerous Liasons might be my favorite performance by an actress ever, period. At least I can't think of a better one off the top of my head.
These two scenes will show you why, the second especially. (The movie is streaming on Netflix, btw, I highly recommend it)

John Malkovich might be one of the worst I've ever seen. Dude can only play himself in alternate scenarios.
