Unofficial VOTE BALLOU! Poker Night. Sep. 30th at 7pm

Congrats! Well, I'll understand if you can't make it.
I'll try hard, but with it being only a week away, I don't know what she's going to say. Hopefully the baby will be good (we really deserve a good baby for once) and I'll get a free pass.

Offhand, I'd say a "good" baby is the one who bawls regularly, wants food, and can piss and poop while going goo goo. The "bad" baby is the one who doesn't do all that, usually associated with not breathing either. Any chance you could clean the house up and invite folks over to help change diapers while you take her to a movie? That would be one small step to staving off the pretty normal "post-partum depression" that goes along with moms who are just truly exhausted.

My wife thinks my turning my back on her kids and writing stuff in here is deplorable enough, I bet she'd have a lot more to say about dragging them off to a poker party. But maybe I could pass it off as a meetup with some political activists of some kind. An underground Libertarian "cell" at work!!!!!!! Well, except she IS a dedicated Rep party worker bee. No way I'm gonna be able to fool her, either.

My wife is in the rush of an ongoing population explosion of new nephews and neices, and she will make excuses be able to tend other people's kids. I'm not sure that's a common thing anymore, but I know my wife's family does a lot of that child-care tradeoff business. It's really nice to have people like that around.

I was being playfully accusatory. That's completely beside the point.

I come from many generations of pub keepers. That might explain it. We owned the Red Lion just around the corner from Parliament in London.

On another line are some very accomplished vineyard folks who made wine.

While in the Philippines on an LDS mission, there were towns where I seriously assert I never talked to a sober man in four months. Tuba, they called it. Or maybe San Miguel.

I admit to having failed to nail down all the possiblities of the universe into one concise set of concrete opinions, and to being fairly playful with my various "points".

I would gladly take a baby that cried regularly, as long as it's not non-stop. Baby #2 literally cried 20 out of every 24 hours. The only way he would sleep was in a swing with the vacuum going. That lasted 4 months, non-stop. His reflux was so bad, the pediatrician said he probably had an ulcer. Baby #3 was even worse.

And I thought I had it rough with just one mild case.

Maybe you could patent that swing/vacuum contraption. Gotta be some other folks out there who need it.

So, we're at 7 with a possible (and understandable) drop-out and 2 maybes. Haven't heard back from Trout, but I'm still expecting him. So there's a little more room if you're out there and you're interested.

More details in my personal forum as far as stakes and so forth. PM me with any questions.

Count me in tentatively. I will try to figure out what I'm doing Friday sooner rather than later and let you know.

And I'm not deciding what I feel like doing that night either, I have some tennis related stuff that I committed to some time ago but I'm not sure on the time frame yet. Just thought I'd clear that up so it didn't sound like I was deciding whether I want to go or not, bitches.

I'm going to freeze any new RSVPs until tomorrow.

I have me plus 4, plus a maybe and a likely late (9-10pm) arrival. 5/1
Trout - unconfirmed, but expected. 6/1
Catratcho - might have to cancel. 7/1
BabyPeterzz 8/1
Archie 9/1
Honz- maybe 9/2

I don't count the late arrival against seats because my guess is a few people will be done for the night by then.

I'll see where the count stands tomorrow and decide if it's locked up.

Alright, this baby is all booked up!

Honz, you still have a seat if you want it.

Trout is going to be late.

Catratcho, let me know when you can if you're going to make it.

If anyone else has a change of plans let me know.

If you'd like to come but didn't get your RSVP in before it filled up let me know and I'll get back to you if a spot opens up. If you'd like to show up late let me know. I can even call you as seats open up.

I'm excited! It should be a good game.

Have fun everyone. I am going to figure out a way to be to one of these sometime.
