UPDATED: 2021 All-Time NBA Draft

@NUMBERICA I love Steve Nash. I mean the guy was a 2x MVP. I wouldn’t go as far as saying he should be in your top-20 players because he shouldn’t be but he definitely shouldn’t have fell to 45. Great pick. He was in my top-35.

Yeah, I get it. But what can I say? Being in the conversation for the GOAT of executing an offense is hard to ignore. I probably should have him lower, but I also build my board on my feelings of how to build a team rather than who was "greatest". On that note, my board only goes to like 25 because
A) making a giant board is some real Charlie from It's Always Sunny energy
B) all the selections thereafter are rather contingent/contextual on how they fit with the people already on the team.

Apologies to anyone that doesn't get the reference of A or is offended by it. But also, my obsession with this is pretty Charlie from It's Always Sunny energy anyway.

Why shouldn’t he have been picked where he was. There are plenty of guys I had to pass on because of the era rule

Do I really need to break it down to you?

I wouldn’t have taken Tracy McGrady, Paul George or Gary Payton over him. That’s three guys right off the bat. That’s just my opinion. It worked out for Numb because he could have taken Nash earlier but who knows if Paul George slides down to 45.

I get the Gary Payton pick but I don’t think he’s better than Steve Nash but Domino liked the defensive pairing with Kawhi. There are a ton of variables that play into this.

Hell, Paul George isn't even on my big board (I just had to have him). So yes, well stated.

At the same time I passed on better players because I already had a player from the same era. I’m sure someone or a few someone’s passed on Nash and others because they weren’t allowed to take him. And a few someone’s that passed on a guy they wanted to take because of team construction and other guys they had to have of the same era as Nash or another player they passed on. I’m not making an argument against the rule, I like it even though it’s also a little frustrating. Lol but that rule is a huge influence. I think it was homie that picked Pistol in the first round, probably wasn’t sure who else to pick from the earlier era after the centers were picked. I don’t know. Also I think James Worthy was drafted in the second round. Little high for him too. There were also a couple of wary dudes drafted illegally because they already had players from the same era. Every year there is someone picked too early or late. This year it’s compounded by the rule because of the extra strategy involved.

Yeah I think overall Nash might be a little better but it was impossible to pass on having Payton and kawhi on the same team plus Payton's a pretty good offensive player being 51st in points scored and 10th in assists all time

I would have drafted Nash if not for the era restrictions. That's a great pick and value all around.

I love Payton and was targeting him myself.
