UPDATED: 2021 All-Time NBA Draft

As far as playoffs go I was thinking the top-2 losing teams with the most votes advance and play the top-2 with the most votes? I also remembered seeing Numb mention an anonymous voting on the seeding to start the playoffs too. I like that idea as well.

Let’s cross this bridge as we come to it.

I think I like this. Add the points all together and average them. Then, like golf, it goes by lowest score. The lowest score is the 1 seed and so forth.
With maybe some extra weight given to the votes for #1 and #2 (to try and get the competition to have a finals with the best two teams actually)?

But I like your thinking. Maybe start with the idea of inverting points given in votes to place, so 12 points for 1st place vote, 11 points for 2nd place vote, 10 for 3rd, etc (I say this part to demonstrate the basic idea). But instead of that, we give extra weight to first and second place votes, so maybe 15 points for 1st place vote, 13 points for 2nd place, then the remaining votes are unweighed (10 points for 3rd, etc).

Does that make sense?

But yeah, I like this general idea. Making a ranking with subsequent point values also makes it harder for ties to occur. We could even just chop off the bottom 4 this way fairly easily (if we wanted to, maybe it makes it a little less fun, but it would also make things cleaner and faster).

I felt the added elite of the elite shooting Miller brings wold be a bigger impact then some of the other guys I could’ve drafted would bring, then also consider Miller was a different beast in the playoffs. After MJ started winning titles. Miller’s Pacers took MJ’s Bulls to 7 games and for a hot minutr at the end it looked like the pacers would beat MJ. Basically Miller in the playoffs was on another level, and that’s the setting we use here. He was one of my favorite players back in the day. I played with the same demeanor he did back in the day when I was only 149lb’s and in shape. Lol. Wish I could turn back time.

I don’t think you need to convince anyone how good Reggie was the problem is going to be your defense and now you’re going to have worse bigs. Instead of doubling down on guards when you already have two you should have taken a big in my opinion.

Now Reggie is going to be at SF where he will get torched by a lot of guys in this draft and Curry at SG will get torched by everyone. Sure you can have Magic guard the biggest of the three but none of the three were lockdown defenders. Reggie was a pest and is the best defender of the three but I see a lot of potential defensive issues coming especially now with the second tier bigs you will have to choose from. Offensively it would be exciting to watch no doubt though.

Why would Reggie have to be at sf on defense? Magic obviously can play there.

Reggie Miller is an underrated player.
The rivalry with the Knicks brought out the beast in Miller time. He had so many playoff moments vs the Knicks. His personal rivalry with Starks was always hilarious because he linked him so bad every time. He was just one of those players that knew what strings to pull to get under your skin and Starks was never in control of his emotions. Lol

Who said Miller is playing sf? And who said Curry would guard sg’s? None were lockdowns, but all gave 100% on defense. I’ll take that any day vs those that just didn’t give any effort at all and I disagree about the center thing. There are plenty left and with having to pick different era’s with the first five picks I believe a stud will be there for me. And there are plenty left. I still have a 90’s pick and 2010 to current. I’m in good shape there.

I said he could could Magic there but then you have Curry guarding PG or SG where he will get absolutely destroyed.
Pg is one of the hardest to guard. Most pg’s will get destroyed on defense. That didn’t hurt the warriors in their tittle run over the last 7-8 years. The three pint shooting and Magic’s elite playmaking will be insane.

Curry is a competent defensive player and Reggie competed hard. The defense would certainly not be good in a contest like this with the quality of opponents they'd be matched up against, but that offense would be bananas. There could be surprisingly good bigs left that could hold their own.

It's an interesting strategy, but reflexively, the defense feels like it could be a horror show.
Agreed. Killed me when KG got picked right before me. There was an absolute stud I could’ve taken and considered it, but he was a bad defender and he absolutely needed the ball to be at his very best, and I don’t want to take the ball out of either Curry’s or Magic’s hands just wasn’t a fit. In the end it’s the guards and wings that make the biggest impact. My next two picks are very important though could make or break my team as a contender.

On the reverse side Curry Magic are near impossible to guard no matter how good a defender you are unless it’s Pippen guarding Magic though that was kinda in the failure of Magic’s career and with Miller’s stile of play just running circles around the half court and not needing much room to hit threes they would have the same affect on opposing teams. IMO.

I thought about trading down, and I probably should’ve, but we waited so long for Rubashov that I didn’t want people to wait even longer.

I’m just being critical. Your team is fine. You missed out on Pippen/Garnett by a couple picks which would have made your team extremely scary.

After we do this, the current, and maybe a legends draft we should do a all time jazz draft but this time, limit it to 8 drafters. The one I ran last year had 12 drafters and it’s started to get tedious in the 7th round. 8 would fix that a lot. I can run that if need be.
