Utah = Battle Ground State. Does that change your vote?

He's not going to be the president.

If he does become the president every KKK member and every neo-Nazi will celebrate, because he is THEIR candidate. They love him. They support him like they've never supported any American Presidential candidate in the last 50 years. He's their guy. There is a lot of very good reasons why they like him. For those same reasons I hate him. I loathe him. He makes my stomach turn. I see a guy who acts like Mussolini and talks like a retarded Hitler.

If retarded Hitler is who you want, I won't judge you. But look at this jackass! Look at all the quotes fishonjazz has posted, the **** that this guy says. I want a president with some degree of dignity and class. Trump has ruled himself out for me because he has conducted himself in the most despicable way. I know street thugs that carry themselves better. I know ex-cons who are more careful about the things they say.

Trump is disgusting to me. Disgusting in a very real way. He makes me sick. He coddles hatred and fear. He sings to the lowest of our national character. He is THE UGLY AMERICAN. The smirking, belligerent, oblivious jerk, who shines a light on our faults and holds them up as our strengths and casts a shadow on our greatness.

I agree that Trump is the first major national candidate the Klan has felt able to explicitly and enthusiastically support in many decades. But it wasn’t that long ago that the Klan and other white supremacist groups rallied behind Pat Buchanan, an ideological carbon copy of Trump, back in the 1990s. It’s just that back then Buchanan was too fringe for the Republican Party. Now his radical views have been mainstreamed. In fact, Buchanan is now accusing Trump, in a complementary and almost wistful way, of stealing all his ideas, right down to the border wall and his version of the make America great again slogan.

Buchanan and Trump are both nativistic populists, or what Buchanan likes to call ethno-nationalists; they oppose free trade and immigration, pander to fears of out of control crime, and have a nostalgic, racialized view of the world. The only real difference is that Buchanan came right out and said whites need to take back their country before it’s too late. So far, Trump, despite his constant derision of political correctness, has been unable to acknowledge the ideological foundation of his campaign and give proper credit to Pat Buchanan, its intellectual founding father.

I love this part of your post.

Look at the out of context quotes guis! Look at them!

Interesting take. I agree any vote against Trump hurts him obviously. But since there is no way a 3rd party wins the state, and Hilary is the only viable candidate to defeat Trump, a vote 3rd party reduces her chances of taking the state and defeating him nationally. In addition, Utah still leans R, while 3rd party votes by R's hurts Trump, those vote would be more effective going to Hilary and adding assurance to Trumps defeat.

This speaks to my issue with 3rd party voting during the general election. This idealistic approach to candidates and the election is so short sighted and dangerous. See the 2000 election when Nader steered votes from Gore and basically ushering in the disastrous Presidency of George W. Bush. That vote set the country, and the world, back decades. If we have the chance to avoid a Trump presidency, you do it and don't look back. Those who refuse to believe this fact are naive, egotistical, stubborn, deluded, racist, or just stupid.

People need to stop blaming Nader for Gore losing his ****ing home state in a general election

Yeah there is a racist underbelly in the gop but that isn't the whole story. Trump had a hard time in closed republican primaries. Where he really won the nomination is with the non-republican vote. Independents and democrats that bought into his nationalist platform. Trump didn't create this he unlocked what was already there. The optimistic side of me is shocked and is certain it will be over soon. The pessimistic side of me is scared ****less that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I highly doubt that closed primary republicans didn't like Trump because of his bigotry (Ted Cruz has said bigoted **** his entire political career, surveillance of Muslim communities etc)

Then how do you explain him losing them? It is not a secret that a healthy portion of the R base (see establishment) actively dislikes him. There have been articles for months on this.

It's clear now that there are a lot of dems and independents that vote that way for SSI, support of unions, etc. During a typical election with no nationalist to vote for those concerns get bumped to the top. The broad appeal of nationalism is what is disturbing. Trump is pulling in 40% of the general electorate. Registered republicans make up less than a third of the electorate and many of them are #nevertrump. The people who are supporting Trump don't believe all this nationalist crap because Trump said it. Trump said it because they believe it.

What exactly is wrong with nationalism?
