Utah Denied A Wet Bandit Trade???!!

I have no animosity toward Marvin. My animosity toward the organization is the fact that (if true) they don't see the value in not trying so hard to feel good about finishing above all the tanking teams, as if that's some prize. My animosity with the coach is that he's trying real hard to squeeze out a few wins. Can't fault him with that, but also can't fault myself for disliking something that ultimately hurts the franchise that I'm a fan of. In 10 years, you and I will still be Jazz fans. In 10 years, how indifferent will Corbin be to the Jazz? Bottom line: I don't give a **** what's currently in Corbin's best interest as we as fans are in this for the long haul -- he's in this until he lands his next gig.
I respect this opinion. I disagree with it. I think the coach and players should try as hard as they can to win. I think that sets the right mind set going forward. I don't want the players getting the idea that it's okay not to try and win. So I see the value to a franchise in trying to win.
.
I see setting a winning mentality as valuable to the franchise.

Let me get some clarification so I don't misrepresent anyone.

The outrage of the day is not trading Marvin, for a very late first round pick, on a might be rumor or something.

A worth about $3,000,000 late first round pick. Something to be bought every single year. Without taking back salary.

This is what we're outraged about, yes?

Can't speak for everyone, but I'm more frustrated about a lack of tank. Also, did you really just poopoo $3M, even as an NBA commodity? To play devil's advocate and say we would have gotten a pick, wouldn't even turning around and selling it for $3M be of significant value to this franchise?

Here is what I believe. ...

So glad to get the last word in btw...

1. Not shocked Jazz didnt make a trade.

2. Dont really care. Probably wasnt a great trade anways. If it were me managing the Jazz I would find a way to get a future pick with a low protection. Like top 10. Some dumb GM is bound to do it. Then you get real value for Marvin. A late first and Marvin are worth about the same. But I do think a good player can be found that late.

3. Some way or another the Jazz need to put the brakes on some of this winning and get in the worst 6. And they can do it by just giving some simple instructions to sit players. **** business ethics. I want to win a championship. Tanking this year should be #1 priority.

4. The draft is a mystical process with unicorns and ferries. We can still win the tank. Just get in the worst 6 and we will win. I have seen it through my crystal ball.

This is the only thing I've heard that has really made me worry about Lindsey. I choose to believe the deal was crazy, but to not take on salary next year for a first round pick, while also getting rid of Marvin, is far, far crazier.

The value of a late first round pick versus taking on contracts you don't want makes no sense. Good move by DL.

How many team wit da worster rekord win da lottorie?

I think the 5th worst has historically won the lottery the most times so that gives us the best chance. Don't need to out-tank MIlwaukee, Philly and Orlando. And we can let either Boston or LA sneak ahead of us.

3rd historically has won the first pick the most times. Then 5th.

This season is gonna get real fun when teams start throwing games towards the end, and Ty ends the 2014 season on a 9 game win-streak, locking up that 12th seed.

Honestly, this could totally happen but with us getting #10.

Our range is 6-10

The Knicks don't even have a pick and we will soon pass them. They play Miami, GS, and the Bulls next, probably 3 guaranteed losses for them coming up.

And we could all pat him on the back for his courage, he'll get to know he put together a better record than teams intentionally trying to look worse than us and, historically, we can look back on this season years from now and argue about how Corbin really "wasn't that bad" and how he "got a rough shake" and then point to his padded wins column and then bitch about our current coach because he isn't taking our Jabari-less Jazz farther into the playoffs on our "2004 Detroit Pistons Model."

Things you should prob know...

1) Marv Williams is a middling player in the NBA and is not someone you re-sign when you are under the cap. The difference between re-signing him when you are under or over the cap is absolutely huge. Using cap space to re-sign an average NBA player with no upside is a treadmill team move and would lock us in purgatory.

2) Having Marv Williams on our roster this year hurts our chances at landing Jabari who you have your fingers crossed for.

3) It is never bad to accumulate draft picks.

4) We are not idiots.

5) Anthony Bennett is bust lol

Should have saved my reps for dis
