Well, just about every team in the WC may have a shot at the playoffs. Or not. Might come down to the end of the year with Portland, NO, GS and Minny already out of contention and tanking at that point.
 
my prediction... GS will be on pace to be the 9th or 10th worst team and at some point in the year start to weight the merits of tanking to keep their top-6 protected pick.

it's july, so every team can make an argument that it got better on paper... but this is a zero-sum game. who is GS going to take wins away from to get better? the five top WC teams are still going to be the five top WC teams, and almost all those middle-of-pack teams could probably make the argument that they got better, except for maybe phoenix.

meanwhile, GS has a started five of bogut-lee-jefferson-thompson-curry and NO real quality depth. if they re-sign rush that helps, but let's also not forget that their two best players are fragile.

Agree. It's hard to argue with their starting five - IF they stay healthy, but they have very little depth. I'm hoping they hover around .500 though mid-March. Then it might be too late to tank into the #6 spot. And like you said, who are they going to replace in the top-8? GS has to jump over a few teams just to get near the playoffs. Minnesota has gotten better, IMO...just with a healthy Rubio, regardless of what AK might provide.
 
yep. and my point is that even their starting five has some weaknesses. lee is a one-way player, jefferson is washed up, thompson is young and still very raw, and curry (even when healthy) is not the type of PG who does a whole ton to open things up for those around him. i see their starting five as passing only the most cursory eye test, and if you look any deeper at how their skills/styles will actually mesh, i can't imagine them even sniffing the playoff.
 
...well, one thing is for sure: we will win our first game! We play at home and the Mavs will be coming off the second of a back to back!

Yep last season started us similar in that LA was on their 3rd game in 3 nights and Jazz got smoked. Difference being it was on the road and LA lost their first two games so came in motivated not to drop 3.

I usually make a point of it to throw away the fortunes without reading them. I like to show those cookies who's boss and that they don't control my life.

Makes me wonder what I've been missing. Maybe I threw away the fortune that said "the Jazz will win many NBA championships" and then the cookies cancelled the championship plans. We could all be suffering because of my aversion to letting cookies tell me what to do.

Mother F, that's a tough pill to swallow.

That's a good question.

I've had some long-standing issues with cookies, mostly involving trust or the lack there of.

Don't want to get too much into personal details but I had a friend who promised to send me some homemade cookies while I was overseas. I waited and waited but the cookies never came. Needless to say, that messed me up pretty bad.

But, what doesn't heal you makes you wronger. I'm a stronger person today for having been cookie scammed.

What no inappropriate jokes about the Asian American girl and fortune cookies? That is reverse discrimination right there and am very disappointed in those people, you know who you are.

You're apparently not aware that you are required to add the phrase "in bed" to all fortune cookie sayings. It should surprise nobody that professional athletes have success in bed because chicks dig cash. Unfortunately, that does us fans no good.
