What's new

Utah jazz AT the Atlanta Pigeons ON ROOT Sports 1280 AM/ 97.5 FM AT 5:00

Hayward was -19, by far the worst on the team. He had 1 rebound in 29 minutes. He pussed out to a certain extent as Josh Smith was just pushing him around. Josh Smith had 3 big assists in the fourth and the offense ran through him. Part was Corbin, but part was Hayward. Corbin should not have played Gordon on Smith, but Hayward did not show the fight and intelligence of a Manu Ginobili, John Stockton, Gary Payton. He should have used Smith's impetuous nature against him. Smith already had 1 Tech, get him kicked out of the game by bothering him.

I like how you describe what GH should have done.
And yes, Manu, Payton, Fish, Karl, Stock, Miller, Jordan, would have taunted him to be ejected. Ahh the good ol' days.

Is there any game better than tonight that shows how bad our offense is? Foye made it look alright in the 1st. The second unit was a disaster. But late in the 3rd, when we absolutely needed a real half court offense to get us to the finish line, we got exposed.

Carroll had 2 of the only 3 cuts I saw tonight, Foye being the other. 3 cuts. Burks played terrible which means we had no drivers, but then we don't have a single player who can actually get a drive off a PnR except him.

But the biggest problem is the utter lack of movement when the ball goes into the post. We even got plenty of doubles tonight, but we've never had any plan to attack that. We just pass it out to the high wing, usually the PG, usually Tinsley or Watson, always with nowhere to go with the ball.

Just as a side question: Is anyone less insightful than Thurl Bailey? I can't remember the last thing he said that didn't sound like he looked at a box sheet and made up some obvious comment. He's just awful.

Locke saying Kanter might still be hurt from his ankle injury.
Makes sense because of how bad he's been playing since he's been back.

I don't know what the %'s are, but Hayward is limited at the 3 and the 2: big 3's (Lebron, J. Smith, Carmelo Anthony, Metta, etc.), and shorter/quicker guards (Ben Gordon, Eric Gordon, Marcus Thornton, etc.). At least with the 2's, he can recover with his length and use this on offense.

I think that lebron, josh smith and carmello all have played more at the 4 than the three this year.

Like i said before, i think hayward can be a 3 in most matchups so burks can be in the game with him..... on the rare occasions that he has to guard a really big 3 like the guys you mentioned, he should be moved to the 2 and marvin or sap should guard the big threes of the league..... in other words, the coach should adjust where hayward plays according to the opponent. I know, crazy idea right?

Billy,
Locke is not a shill. A shill has the appearance of not being associated. In this case, Locke is an employee of the Jazz. He's paid to say nice things about them. He's the same as Boler, harpring. Not sure why you have such a beef with him acting like a homer. He gets paid to be a homer.

This comment i'm in full agreement with however. It is just painful to watch our offense (lack thereof)

Actually Locke's post-game is interesting.
Said that Favors is mad about minutes but you can't see it on his face...This may be why he's been forcing the issue so much lately.

Josh Smith got every rebound over Hayward, drew a double team, which led to open looks for Horford and their shooters, and he scored a couple key buckets, including a jumper and a layup.

Wow! Laughable that this is because he "owned" Hayward. The jumper he hit was when Paul was guarding him, and the defense was good, the shot was just better. Please go back and look at the layup that he hit, and place the blame where it's due, on Jefferson who was doing the only thing on defense he has perfected; his excellent tree impersonation.

Yes, he made a nice pass to a cutting Horford for a layup, because once again Jefferson was watching the backs of his eyelids. Made another nice pass to Lou Williams for a three because Tinsley was celebrating idiocy. I personally don't believe a Jefferson led team will ever make the playoffs again. But go ahead and blame everything on Gordon cuz he was a -19.
