What's new

Utah Jazz AT the Charlotte Kittens on ROOT Sports 1280 AM/ 97.5 FM when? 5:00

I always hate road garbage time we always play so bad and leave a sour taste in the mouth. Burks worked at PG against the Bobcats admittedly but he was good except for garbage time when he over and backed off his foot dribbling out the clock

Game we should have won. Kanter's worst game in a long time. He just doesn't know how to play offense unless it's a set shot or he has contact with his back to the basket. Horrendous shots by Kanter tonight...outrageously out of control.

Moment of clarity while watching The Charlotte feed:

Play-by-Play Guy: Derrick Favors averaging 22 minutes per game.
Color Guy: How many minutes do you think he'd play for us?
Play-by-Play Guy: (knowing chuckle)

Couple Q's

What did you guys think of Sessions? could he be worth pursuing as a backup?

Earl + Tinsley = 27 minutes. Who played point the other half of the game? IMO Cat's guards are pretty good so this could have been a decent test.

MKG had a nice looking line. Is he legit?

Believe it or not, Burks was at least on the floor for a LONG time, and a lot of it was at the point. As for the Bobcats, they kind of sucked. Byumbo isn't even a basketball player, never mind an NBA player. He is just a physical beast. On one play he caught the ball and just ran to the basket, no dribble no nothing.

Sessions looked good as the point. When their bench came in, it was a legit game. He ran a lot of iso's though so I'm not sure if that's the Bobcats' offense or just him. Wouldn't mind getting him but wouldn't pay much for him either.
MKG looks monstrous out there, he looks like he had a growth spurt or something. Looked bigger than Hayward. It might just be his wingspan. He played the 2-3-4 today. Physically and athletically, he's a 2nd pick for sure.
MKG's problem is that he didn't seem aggressive. His outside shooting is a legitimate concern. To to be fair, the Bobcats offense is just awful. They're running the show with the NBA's smallest shooting gaurd. And I just feel bad for Biyambo. He looks like a nice guy, but he's not going to make it in the NBA. Bad hands, bad IQ, the list goes on and on and on.

Burks played a ton of point today. Worth noting is that Watson may be slipping out of rotation. Teams just don't gaurd him at all on the 3 point line and it makes it harder for Favors and Kanter. On defense, he gambles way too much and ruins it. Same with Demarre. Both of them are high energy guys, but they're negatively effecting the team lately. They gamble way too much and make the defense collapse on the paint.

Bobcats have a lot of players that drive with reckless abandon. This team would be destroyed in any sort of series because all you would have to do is clog the paint at all cost. MKG looked ok, but like many other Bobcats, he should be dared to shoot. He got all, if I'm not mistaken, of his shots on slashes and drives. He was also -27.

And who says Corbin isn't getting the knack of this coaching thing:

Late in the game Burks brought the ball up about 5 feet past the half court line and then dribbled the ball off his foot resulting in a back court violation.

On the very next possession, Burks brought the ball up to the same exact spot. Corbin frantically motioned to Burks to advance the ball up further just in case he dribbles the ball off his foot again; thereby avoiding another back court violation.

Corbin = Ring folks.

Corbin = Ring.

I have no idea what the media narrative is, but our half court offense is still a total disaster. Putrid against Denver (a team that actually has a system), Hayward made it look better than it was against Dallas (a team that plays a system with inferior players), and it looked pretty bad tonight against a team that plays no system. Tonight we had the luxury of destroying a team in one on one matchups almost exclusively.

I have to say, I'd almost mailed in the season emotionally until I saw the 4th quarter of Dallas. Absolutely shocked Ty went with Burks at the backup 2, and liked seeing it again tonight.

Burks might not be able to handle the job. But he can do things on the floor with the ball that no other player we have will ever be able to do. Committing to letting him learn or fail is crucial.

Honestly, if we're just going to trade Al and Sap, do it now. Favors and Kanter can't possibly score reliably in the post. So if we're not going to go for it, then just get the losing started.

I'm not advocating anything actually. And I think it's pointless to have Ty coach Favors or Kanter. So I guess I'd rather have as much ammo as possible built up to getting Ty canned so we can move into the future with those two being coached by someone competent.

I am fine with that as long as he gets a lot of those minutes playing with Burks and Hay. If he is taking away minutes from them then thats way to many

Foye needs to be down to 20 minutes at least. He's the classic player you leave on the floor if he's hot, yank if he's not. His "value" has little to do with who else is on the floor.
